Reverse puting someone as leader of your guild?

What can you do to reverse puting someone as leader of your guild? Is there a confirmation window for puting someone as guild leader?

I assume you accidentally promoted them to guild leader? If so, simply ask them to make you the leader again? I would assume you could trust anyone in your guild to do so.

When we've done leader swaps before I don't remember there being a confirmation dialog but it hasn't happened enough for it to be something I remember.

there is no confirmation button when you presss that option.
so if you have selected an leader try to confince him to make you leader again.

If they won't give it back to you, sorta boned unfortunately... I'd make sure all the guildies knew where I was going, jot down all of their names, and PM them and reinvite them into a new guild. If you had a close guild, they should follow, but if someone isn't giving back leadership in the first place... Idunno. I know we've given leadership to other members before when there was going to be absences for a week or more, but it's always been given back freely.

shouldn't there be a confirmation window for changing guild leader? i mean, you spend a lot on a guild, cape, hall, services, etc. and it can be all lost with 1 clumsy click? cmon...

It'd be terrible if instead of kicking someone you made them leader

Whenever I'm pushing that button I make for sure that I'm doing the kicking.

they should have it with a confimation button and require typing of the player's name being promoted to leader...

Yes it should be like the delete a character function. You should also be really careful when promoting people, even to the officer position.

A guild cannot have more than one leader. It sounds more likely that your guild has a leader and two officers. To be an officer a member must be promoted by the guild leader or another officer.

No matter what you do someone will find a way to screw it up. Have 4 dialogs, 3 other people having to agree, and a required fax in form to ANet and someone would be here saying the same thing....

would be nice to have that because it doesnt' really take that much to type in a name or even right clicking a name lol

Ignorance ftw... Unless you are running your settings at 800x600, (I have mine at 1280x1024) there is very, very little room between your choices when performing actions on guild members. Picking someone to be guild leader is a big deal, and there shouldn't even the the chance that it happens on accident. We have to type our name to donate faction, but not to promote someone to guild leader?

another disturbing problem w the guild member options is that the "designate to leader" is placed in a different order for member vs officer >.<

It is sloppy a weak UI. While TsunamiZ made the mistake, two step confirmation is common to all UI's and should be implemented here. It's just good design practice.

Soooo, perhaps this post should be moved to suggestions board or a new post made there to reflect such a recommendation?

i questioned anet support about this and guess what? you need to have either the player you accidently promoted to give you back your leadership, or wait for the player to be INACTIVE for 2 MONTHS [60 days] since you promoted him! how rediculous is that?? heck, GW Factions is not even out for 2 months yet!

I see, so you were intending to kick an inactive member but instead promoted them instead. Bummer.

You have to sympathize with Anet though, how do they know what's going on in your guild and so cannot blindly make such changes to leadership.

The problem is their leader promotion design is flawed and then they have a rediculous 2 month inactive wait time. Besides, the player that was promoted has a note of who promoted them when you highlight their name.

So there is at least a confirmation window? Thank you Stalker for clearing that up. So what then TsunamiZ isn't a second window enough for you? I'll have to agree with JR here, you need to take responsibility for your own mistake and quit blaming others.

You are basically requesting the Dev team to spend coding resource time with something that seems fairly functional.

i dont recall a window...besides, promoting a leader should require a more concious effort like typing in the name of the player...

agreed here.. if you meant to choose officer\kick instead of guild leader, and dont pay attention to the prompt, it would suck. I know everyone is saying you should be more careful, but i dont think there is any harm in adding "type the name of the person you want to make guild leader here" option.. at least then, if you do do it.. you cant come to the boards and moan
