Please Anet, stop this!

On another forum, someone posted {broken link removed by Lasher Dragon} on another forum. I browsed through the site, and found not only how gross it is, but how easy this makes it for people to cheat the game. I thought selling gold was against the EULA? Maybe you guys (at Anet) could buy from the site, and when you meet up with the people in game for the transaction, you could ban them.

The broken link seemed to be working fine...

I will personally not spend my own money just to ban someone. They have logs, loads of them.

Be careful what you link here, as you can get banned pretty swiftly for linking (even indirectly) to any kind of gold-selling site, or any other subject that would be against the EULA.

Funny that I would be banned for alerting Anet of the very problem, and an exact location too. If they keep on going like that I don't think the sites will ever get shut down.

The link I saw was something along the lines of http://www.GOREDENGINEGOREDENGINEGOR...INEGOREDENGINE.... etcetera - the language filter got a hold of it. LOL

Anyway, posting links to stuff like you are talking about in this forum will get you banned from Guru. If you really want to alert ANet, then send it to ANet.

I will not post that stuff here then, and I will alert Anet by emailing them.

Only one more thing, when I posted it I posted it so that the link appeared as "This," and only when you hovered over it would it say the url. The url also didn't contain any swears... so why is it gored engine?
Are you trying to make it look as though I posted a link containing swears? Because if so, I most certainly did not.

Some people on GwG may go to the site and buy the gold, so yes, emailing the URL to ANet directly is much better.

ANet is doing everything they can to stop this, but its very hard to stop people from selling gold for real money. It will never be fully stopped.

Guild wars guru gets spammed by bots posting links to gold selling sites, one of the messures they have taken up is adding some of these sites to the "Curse Word List" So that further spam could be prevented as the advertisers would see there efforts go up in smoke. This also protects themselves from being accused of "Fostering an enviroment that is against Anet's ToS" So... Its not that it had a curse in it... Its that guildwarsguru added the site to the curse filter ^^

That would be the best thing to do.

Believe me, I have better things to do than to try to frame people, LMAO. The filter picked up something... since I don't know what the original link was, I cannot tell you what set it off.

Thanks, and sorry if I sounded like an idiot, or if I wasted your time.

Anet knows about these site. Not much can be done to shut them down. Giving them money for any reason is just dumb.

They also know, and monitor, the bot development sites. Many of them are public and don't hide what they try to do.

Strangely enough, I clicked a link from the Guild Wars main site. It was listed as being an "elite fansite". What was that site's front page? Yes, a link to a gold selling site. I am sure that didn't last too long.

I also saw someone else petitioning to have his site listed on the Guild Wars site. He had gold selling ads right on his frontpage, too.

As for posting links to sites that encourage breaking the EULA, it's not worth it. The good people aren't interested and the bad people don't belong here.

The only game in my knowledge that allowed the sale of gold->real cash is RS.

Pretending to buy would be against the law some how anyways... They'd be filling out a form saying that they'd pay. Then not?

There is little people can do about these gold sellig sites, if you close down one, another will come up. I remember how bad this issue was in Diablo 2. People went onto various websites to buy gold, equipment and accounts using real life money.

Personally, I think the worst thing about seliing gold is that it encourages bots. If person AAA wanted to sell GW Gold for real life money, that person would need a bot, which is against ANet's EULA. However if person AAA was to farm themselves for the gold (not using a bot) and sell it, is that still against the EULA? I bet it is!

I don't know much about this because I never participate in buying/selling gold for real lif money anyways.

Be very careful when talking about these sites. Anet definitely hates them.

Exemple (my own case ^^) : Right after the release of GW in China/Japan etc... or maybe a beta i dunno, but there were a lot of asian people in the desert outpost where you ascend (don't remember the name) Inter District 1. I trade some weapon with a chinese guy and this one says :
Do you know where i can buy more gold ?
I answered : You know it's forbidden, you can be banned for this etc etc...
He insists
Well, it was the time when there were all these bots spamming ads for their site in the old tombs of primaveral kings pvp. So ... i told him : try this website, saying again that it was forbidden etc etc.

Result : i dunno about him but i got banned 2 days after for 1 week The "funny" thing is that i was in some test secondary guild and it was the exact week when guild's composition had to be set up for the world championship (around the 5th of December). So i wasn't able to join my main guild before the deadline date and wasn't allowed to participate to the championship -.-.

Morality : never ever think about talking about that ^^ these websites are cursed.
