I was in RA today and chasing some fool, note I was chasing him and he used Coward and knocked me down. So that skill is broken, because I definitely was not fleeing.

FYI.

That definatly makes you wonder... does fleeing realy meen "If target foe is moving"? hmm well they should fix the skill discription and or make a "flee" detector :P

Hopefully the bug is that the description says fleeing when it's meant to say moving.

No skill should require the target to be fleeing. Didn't we learn that lesson with Bull's Strike?

Perhaps the skill "Coward!" should be changed to "Moving target foe is knocked down" instead of "Fleeing target foe is knocked down"

well, i believe the skill description is wrong then, wasnt there a thread where gaile asked about little details like this one? perhaps posting there that the elite skill "Coward" has its skill description a bit wrong.

Theyre not going to implement a thing that detects if you are moving away or towards teh target and wether or not to knock them down based on that. Moving=fleeing. Its not going to kill you.

That's actually not at all true. They already have an algorithm in place to differentiate between moving and fleeing. It used to be used for Bull's Strike and Bull's Charge, but thankfully they changed those skills to trigger on any movement.

^^ so you want there to be a difference and have even more bugs? just keep it simple.

well, as it is the name of the skill is inappropiate. It would just become a single targeting "none shall pass"

Perhaps it could be redone, so it only works on foes that are in front of you and running away , not pursuers that are behind or those that are in front and charging in.

I did the same thing once, a guy was coming toward me and I used it, he was KD. I think GW only detects movement directly Forward/Backward as "Fleeing"
because in both directions they are running with their back perpendicular to the path they take. The only thing is since on Bull's Strike, Bull's Charge, they have to be activated in melee range, and if someone is coming towards you, and when you hit them, they can't be still moving in the same direction, because they need to be within melee range to be hit in the first place. Coward activates in a "spell" range so it can be activated while the enemy is still moving towards you.

^So if you Shout Coward on someone which he's moving on the side (Strafe Left/Right), it didnt work?

I Don't think that's it, I've been knocked down by "Coward" by the Luxon Warriors in Aspenwood while trying to run past them. They've also hit me with it while I was standing still, though I had just stopped moving moments ago.
I've also had them spam it on me, knocking me down 2-3 times in a row (of course, I was 'trying' to move when they did that).

They really are asking for trouble with Coward. It was such a stupid idea. Face it they can't detect fleeing. None Shall Pass is just as stupid. That skill should NOT work if your moving.

NPC's flawed use of skills has been well documented, like the infamous Shatter Enchantment which would trigger damage if the target didnt have an enchantment. As for "running past them" I think you were running directly forward triggering this weird skill. As for standing still I'm not sure, it could be the flawed use. You can't always trust how it works when NPC's use it.

Yes they can. They used to with Bull's Strike before they improved it, and they still do with critical hits.

If they're not doing it with Coward!, that just means the skill description is inaccurate. Welcome to Guild Wars.

Well if this is true then that doesn't make much sense.

Warrior 1: DIIEEE come back here!
Warrior 2: COWARD!
Warrior 1: aaa I'm knocked down
Warrior 2: YEEEAAA *runs away*

People actually use this skill? I've honestly NEVER seen it use beyond the luxon warriors in fort aspenwood... don't even bother.
