Today brought the stunning news that I Guild I, who currently reside at number ten on the Guild Wars ladder, had broken up as a team. Since the beginning of the Guild Wars Factions Championship, iGi has been a force to be reckoned with, consistently maintaining a spot amongst the Guild Wars elite. But even for all the drama that enshrouded their team, few thought they would come to such an abrupt end.

Admist the tumultous discussions and allegations, I caught up with two of iGi's core players, Kestrel and Souma for an open and honest discussion about what really went on behind the scenes. Check out the article here: http://www.ampedesports.com/news/2417

Here's a newsflash Tom Brokaw;

Drama happens in almost every guild - and egos are much more prevalent in guilds fighting for top ranks.

Hell, I see drama and egos in average guilds.

iGi was a really good guild, skill-wise, but to expect there not to be clashes of egos is quite humorous.

To Mimi, there was never any expectation on my part - I was simply relaying the news and giving people an opportunity to hear from the players directly.

To Hockster, you should perhaps consider peering outside your bubble every now and again. You'll realize that people do in fact care about competition in Guild Wars, which includes the guilds that comprise the top tier. Expressing your own view on the subject is all well and good, but it would do you well to not speak on behalf of a community as diverse as Guild Wars'.

Actually, the reason for the constant egotism is due to the fact of an inner Guild Wars ring. The top guilds were formed in secret pact by Boy Bands in the late 90's in expectation of the game. They then recruited members that fit their playing style.

These guys do it all the time. Fights over using eachothers hairspray.. Some guy gets more roses in his dressing room. It can get very ugly. Its really quite sad.

By the way, Josh, I have to say I loved this picture of you:

Yes, if you think the egotism of high end guilds is foolish, you must be PvE only! I mean, everyone applauds sissy fits in real life, too, don't they?

Look at those people in that report. So bitter over a game. I've seen so many people in this game that will hold stupid little grudes over the most meaningless things. Always "betraying" eachother, very hostile. And for what? Why are they like that?

And now we are supposed to go "boo hoo, a great guild collapses!"

And, really, it is a nice picture of him. Its a nice reporter shot.

Oh Noes! The 'burbs!

Actually, I found the article interesting and informative. Thanks, Josh, for posting the link to it.

It's kind of heartening (sorry) to see that even in a top guild, there's drama and conflict. People are pretty much the same everywhere. I'm glad that Kestrel and Souma seem to get along so well. I hope they find the right guild fit for them.

Thanks for the info Josh. I think it DOES matter to people who like iGi. Quite a few people observe matches you know. No reason to be as$es.

This thread seems to be getting flames, and it will continue to get flames. Therefore, I am forced to close this disaster waiting to happen.
