Signet of Strength - Uses?

Signet of Strength: 0 / 1 / 45
Signet. Your next 1...13 attacks deal +5 damage.
I'm thinking about designing some new damage builds for my Warrior, and this one inparticular has caught my eye.
Anybody have a lot of experience with this skill? Is it useful in a pressure build, or for applying temporary pressure as you build up an adrenaline spike? If not, what would you take instead?

for a pressure build sure it would work, for a spike yes u would have to use it after you have built up the adrenline thus giving away the spike.... which isnt much when you see the war or wars change targets quickly to another one.
I'm not sure it would be that helpful though.

I doubt it was a skill designed with PvP in mind.
Keep in mind, though, that the uses stack. So if I use it three times in a row, it'll add up.
Furthermore, How does this skill interact with things like Cyclone Axe and Hundred Blades? Cause that could be madleet damage potential, non?

it is a shitty skill...

I disagree is an excellent skill, works well with 100 blades, cyclone axe etc i always have it up and running. Its about the only energy skil my war uses.

It's a signet, thus not using energy../sigh

Taking that +5 for pressure....if there was 20 skillslots, well then maybe.
Jestah
Obviously 5 axtra damage never hurts but considering the alternatives it's a straight up waste of a skill slot. Even an axtra adrenal attack would balance out as more damage than this. Unless you plan on spiking every 45 seconds it's also trash for that too.

13*5=65
0/1/45
You deal 65 damage.
Worth it?

over the course of 13 hits where the skill coulda been put to other uses? no. it's not worth it.

This is a horrible skill.
Poor recharge. Poor damage boost.
Infact the damage boost is so bad(not even looking at the recharge..) that simply not using this skill will net you the damage gained from using it... Then you have the fact that the recharge is horrible, and it's a waste of a skill slot...
For a replacment, I'd use an adrenaline based attack... Anything but this skill...

Say if you have 12 STR...Which means you have 13 blows of +5 damage - 13 * 5 = 65 (A +65 extra damage)
Not that aweful, but it won't make much difference.
Personally, I would never take that skill unless if it's an very speacial occasion.

ya it takes 1 s to use, and it will probably take 2 s to get in touch with the monk you were chasing =D
Spoony
Not worth it, tells you me.

k if u were to use this u would generally be targeting monk so ud be averaging around 20 damage per hit dependign on armor and mods. +65 damage on 13 hits. galrath slash +40 (15) get about 2 in +80. and thats with out any adren boosting or IAS.
Evilsod
That doesn't make it useful. Why bring this signet for an extra +5 damage when you can just bring 1 more attack or defence skill? You either survive for longer or deal more damage in a single attack. Think about it, 65 damage extra over 13 attacks OR Power Attack? Just because the latter costs energy doesnt mean its not better if you don't have a ton of energy skills on your bar.
Francis Demeules
Vampiric mods with this signet?
CKaz
it's a separate source of damage so it has some, but limited, application
Ruhern
65 damage is great... if it's done all at once. Think about it, when someone heals themselves or gets healed, they generally get healed ABOVE their max health. In the 3 or 4 hits you get off before a monk heals the target, you do 15-20 dmg, which is usually easily covered by the heal.
And the other guy was right about trying to cast this again while chasing someone. You give them a chance to think/cast/whatever thus ruining any "pressure" you were trying to add by using this Signet.
However say your build focuses on adding as much damage as possible to each hit... say... Primal Rage, Signet of Strength, Strength of Honor, Judge's Insight, Vampiric Mod... because it's a straight +5 dmg it may help (since it's not like, 12 fire dmg, it avoids armor, I think).

Yep, the +5 is added 'on the top' I believe. In which case, thats hot - armor ignoring damage is always good.
And if not, even better! +5 base damage when using a hammer would be very adventageous when youve got 16 mastery.

they should do a combination of damage increase, duration increase, and/or recharge decrease
Blaster The Warrior
its crap i was using it but i replaced it with an attack skill for more dmg

Doing this on a hammer warrior, with Warrior's Cunning as well...
Sounds like a near-instant kill to me

I saw this thread a few days ago, and went to get this sig to try it out. If I'm bringing some skills that recharge quickly, this isn't too bad, but I wouldnt base my whole build around this skill. I do like the fact that I can activate this well before I go into a fight, and it will recharge, and it doesn't activate until I start fighting.
Besides, dealing a little more extra damage never hurts....

I used the skill before and it sucked so i never used it again

yeah in general pretty much 'teh suck' imo
