YOU drop gold when you die!
MSecorsky
No one seems to be mentioning this little tidbit so here it is... it needs to be tested to see if this comes out of your inventory, because if not you'll see parties of self-sacrificing self-farming necros out there stocking up on gold.
One dies, drops gold, someone picks up and shares. Next one dies, rinse, repeat.
Bring a rez spell everyone!
You'd need to kill a few critters first, of course...

Well... I've gone out, had gold drop for me, pick it up and sacced myself to death and... nothing. I've tried a few times now and there has been nothing waiting there on the floor.

Maybe there's a difference between being killed and saccing... dunno... still worth investigating.
Cracko

I did the nah pui quarter mission today, someone died and there was 399 gold on the ground. That's FAR more than any of the monsters drop.

The OP wants someone to test if players can CREATE gold by having gold in their inventory, then dying and sharing it.
If this is true, this could be a REALLY serious exploit.
You have 100,000 gold in your inventory.
You die. You drop 100,000 gold. But the gold stays in your inventory THIS NEEDS TO BE TESTED.
Your buddy picks up 100,000. You both get 50,000. He gets 50,000 (while you are already maxed).
Well yo uget the idea.....This could be bad.

If it doesn't go down, there's the exploit... party goes gold gathering for a while then has a death party to really load up on the cash.
Sir Skullcrasher
I was running around exploring in Cantha and my fighter henchman died and i was surprise to see 102 gold dropped from his body. Guess all henchies give you gold when they died!
CyberNigma
I think I know where MSecorsky's getting at. When you (or your henchies die) are you dropping your share of the loot that you've picked up so far.. ?? That could suck (if you're actually losing it)..
SpeedyKQ
Does this strike anybody else as a really bad idea?
I mean, if pug monks want to be bastards...

So is it only money you pick up as loot on that run or just any moneyyou take with you?

anyone test it yet? *is at work*
We need to test which is true:
You die, gold drops:
Gold that drops disappears from your inventory
OR
Gold that drops stays in your inventory, essentially "creating money"
and
Gold that drops is the gold you picked up from that run.
OR
Gold that drops is just the amount in your inventory, meaning you could purposely leave with 100,000 gold to "create it".

I've been trying to test it lol Took a bunch of henchies, farmed a bit of gold, and have been letting myself die now, but I haven't dropped any gold yet.
Zakarr
You need another human player to your party. Only loot gold from enemies will drop on the ground if you die. After that you can create gold easily because it doesn't reduce from your inventory and you plus another player get 50% from total gold every time you die. That is serious exploit. I have made 50k in an hour from few platinum enemie loot gold. Too bad 100k is the limit for one character. Okay, I was just kidding. You will not drop any gold. I have tested this with two accounts.

Farming grawl 2-man with a guildie, we died on Edibbo Pekpek after killing the first boss and getting lots of loot. We did not drop any money.
Fyre Brand
Zakarr was pulling your leg on the first part. It's not true. I've gone out and tested this (with hench only). I will test again later tonight when the guildies get online.
If you are in a hench team you will not drop your gold.
They will only drop gold they have picked up. If they die and drop and die again before another foe is killed and looted then they will not drop gold.
That is my experience from 4 hours of henching in South Shiver and The Falls.

Compensation for the crappy henchies. No big deal

Didn't they fix this?
...Today?
...Today?
Fyre Brand
If they did it wasn't when I was playing. Maybe in the late afternoon or early evening. I'll log in and check.
uberpwnage
No, I mean, I checked the site a few minutes before I posted that. It claimed that it fixed these bugs. All of them.
But when I logged on minutes later, they were all still in place. But now a new build of GW is out, so maybe, you know.

Teh Diablo
Yup, the update today fixed the bugs were henchmen would drop gold and all that, and standing next to fighting mobs. Just go to www.guildwars.com and click on Game Updates geez.
narcissistic_fool
Pity they fixed it....made 100k from the silent surf mobs slaughtering themselves
