What's a good secondary class for assassin?

I'm thinking of starting an assassin, so what would most people consider as the best secondary class? I'm thinking maybe monk or warrior. Monk because the extra healing, but then maybe the healing would drain their energy too fast. So warrior would be good to use some stances that require adrenaline rather then energy. Or even elementalist, to throw on some armor spells to increase their survivability? Suggestions?

It seems to me from reading different posts here that the assassins main weakness is that they have not the best armor and they're a melee class. So they have to get up close and personal, but are not equipped for the long battles in that proximity. So my thinking is to choose a secondary that would increase their survivability for these situations. What does everyone think?

I have already played an assassin when factions just came out just to try it out, and I found it really fun, so I enjoy the class. But I want to know that the class is at least effective throughout the game. I see a lot of people don't think so, but a lot do. Probably due to people not being familiar with them I guess, so I don't mind putting in the time to get over the learning curve.
