I Have 270k...But Nothing To Buy...
Zinger314
(NOTE: I am NOT giving away money. Do NOT fill up this this topic with "Can I have some? plz?" as it's not funny and it's borderline trolling.)
After selling the Totem Axe for ridicolous amount and getting on the enemy vs. enemy farming bandwagon, I now have quite the sum. I have 270k, which is probably more than atleast 90% of the users.
However, I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to purchase.
The problem lies in the fact that there's nothing substantial (for primary casters) to buy inbetween 15k Armor and FoW Armor. A full set of 15k costs 75k (or 155k if you involve Luxon/Kurzick Armor) while a full set of FoW costs more than 1 million+ gold. That's quite a big gap.
In-between this gap, there are weapons with special skins that can be purchased. Perfect Celestial, Perfect Zodiac, Kanaxi's, and Urgoz's weapons are good examples. However, only Warriors, Rangers, and Assassins are overly dependant on weapons. So how do casters spend huge chunks of moola?
My main, as you see from the avatar, is a Necromancer. She sports 15k Canthan and has perfect Weapons for all 3 Necromancer Attributes (even that overpriced Ghial's Staff.)
My other main, a Ritualist, sports 15k Kurzick, dyed completely black, and also has a set of perfect weapons (fortunately, that's very easy, since Restoration and Channeling rely on Ashes. )
Another one of my characters, my Monk, sports 15k Saintly, dyed black, and also has a set of perfect weapons.
My Elementalist (which sports 15k Pyromancer), my Warrior, and my Ranger have been put on hold indefinately since no one seems to want them in groups.
Now you see the problem. All my central chaarcters already have 15k Armors (with expensive dyes!) and perfect weapons. There's nothing for me to buy.
What exactly do casters do with large sums of money?

I hear you. I'm sitting on ~1.2 million pure gold, and that's after dropping at least 200k on making a character PvP ready. I've nothing to spend it on except making characters pvp ready, and even that only spends it to a certain extent!

Work on bettering other characters. If you have a character you've been neglecting, start using him/her. Level that char up and get stuff for it. I'm pretty sure that 270k would go pretty quickly with getting a new char up and running, and it expands your playing potential too.

Start buying pointless stuff and stop helping inflation.
Buy superior identification and salvage kits and give them to n00bs or something.

Sit on it. Long-term. See if they introduce new armor/items/whatever to the game that you decide you want.
Bane of Worlds

But ya i still have 200k+ left and just don't know what to buy. i guess a few ectos when the prices go back down.
tomcruisejr
buy yourself some show off items. such as mursaat hammer 15^50 8-9rq.
HawkofStorms
Might I suggest buying several different armor sets for the characters you use often. Get Tormentor, Scar Pattern, MM, and Reverant Armor (don't forget the bloodstained boots). Wearing certain armor for certain situations/builds is viable.

Gotta love the "I have more money than I know what to do with" types.
Buy some NPC's for your guild hall. Buy guildies' Droks armor when they get their first character there (doing the storyline, not running). Give gifts to guildies and friends. Sit on it until you have enough for FOW armor. Lay awake at night worrying about what to do with it. LOL

Well, once someone's UAS'd, has every NPC in the guild hall (not that I bought them), and has all the vanity desired (15>50 crystalline enough for ya?), there's just nothing to spend gold on that's not entirely boring.
I'd just be happy increasing max storage capacity, so my characters aren't full. >.>

You can kit a character out with a perfect (stats wise) set for 20/30 or so plat. The only real economy in guilds wars is for rare skins and expensive armour materials. It's just a way of letting grinders have their rewards without punishing casual players.
If you don't have practical items to buy just blow it on frivolous stuff just for the hell of it.
Fate
If you're looking for functional, I'd go with skills.
You never know when you're gonna hear about a new build and want to run it only to find you're missing a critical skill. I don't mean just for your primary, I mean start getting all the secondary skills too and the elites. Not only does this make it easier to run different builds but it also helps you on your way to the skill capper title. Also, you could buy lots and lots of keys and work on the chest opening title (which simultaniously works on the gold item identing title)
With a little spending like that you could have the "Kind of a Big deal" title real soon
drunkard title is a big cash sink too

this is just an example
LiQuId StEeL
Spoil your casters rotten with vanity skin weapons, and multiple, multiple sets of 15k
Kurow
put your money towards something good! Make a dye chart for some of thsoe armors youve got. (be sure not to do it in maguuma jungle, who can tell what the colors really look like in those pictures... >_>)
Dj Tano
Save the money and when you can buy char slots make new chars and buy stuff for them, theyll need it...
Guardian of the Light
Do what most people do with a lot of money. Spend it on Dwarven Ale and ge the drunkard title .
Or you could try to collect all the greens.
Or get Candy Canes.

xuemin
just go and continue with your ranger since the henchies will take anyone =p and later you'll end up spending all the gold on all the bows he/she will need for all the different types of situations etc
CartmanPT
I like to spend in titles, elite cap and chests atm
Malice Black
nec FoW is cool just get the chest and arms the rest looks like shit

You can't find vanity skins for caster weapons. They may exist in theory but the frequency at which they pop up for sale is ridiculously low - at least for weapons with perfect (collector) stats. So while physicals get to collect sexy gear for their characters, casters are basically stuck choosing between collector, crafted, and (usually bad) green weapons.
The best thing you can do with lots of money right now is to roll a warrior and start filling him up with vanity weapons. Until there's a serious change to the game's item system casters just don't have that option.
Peace,

The problem with caster weapons is that the "perfect" ones with collector stats just don't show up in drops. How many times have I gotten a low req staff of Death Magic only to find that it has a 20% recharge rate for Divine Prayers or some other garbage I don't want.

Plus, I have very little storage space.

Work on your ele and ranger, use the money to outfit them as well. Ele and ranger are both needed in the missions and, honestly, I have absolutely no problems getting into groups with either of mine. Might as well do them now, while you have the cash for it.

Make all your characters PvP ready.

Invest in items such as Ecto and they ever popular Rubies and Sapphires. It gives you something to do with you money and if done right it will earn you even more money later on (perhaps when you actually have a use for it)

Here's the thing, I have the same problem sort to speak except i do have items in mind I wanna buy but my chars are set real well at this point and I don't really need. I have quite a bit of sum in pure gold, saveral times your current amount to put it lightly, items that are gonna net me atleast 100k+ more and money invested in 176 rubies 61 sapphires and a couple of ecto as well as 74 CC, not much but its there for me to invest in gold I have no room for.
Thing what I'm trying to say is that the whole point of getting rich is to reach for the skies, meaning get as rich as mutha........... possible. If you enjoy GW and will probly stick around for the next saveral games, why have set yourself so well that you can just blow money on FOW costing armors and weapons w/o flinching? yes, only a few of us can ever get to that point, I myself have only FOW armor on my monk and thank god I don't like the way the rest of the classes fow looks like. Thing is, I'm not even close to getting there yet, till then, gotta stay hungry. I have 6 chars and each equipped w/ a bevy of items I'm comfortable w/, yet I'm still waiting for ANET to increase the storage cap to 5 mill or more just to see if I can cap it. I know thats not much to alot of people here, but its a goal I have yet to reach :\
Oh and not to make ya feel bad but I had that gold amount during my south shiverpeak days w/ my warrior b4 I discovered farming, so welcome to a milestone.

I have a warrior, my problem is I'm not much on vanity, so I don't spend much. And my goodness did I overfarm before I stopped. I have 900k in storage, about 75k in pocket change on my 3 PVE toons, over 400 dyes (including 19 black and 67 silver), 115 Bleached Shells which I shoulda dumped before Factions came out, 90 Candy Canes, and all sorts of other stuff. No point in giving anything to guildies, because everybody in my guild is freaking rich already (our guild hall had every NPC within 3 hours of Factions being released on April 28th).
What's funny is that most of us got that way from pure grind and not buying and selling. The last high-ticket item I sold was Victo's Axe when it was new, for 100k. Two weeks later I bought the shield for 85k, so that kinda evened out (moreso when I accidentally sold it to the merchant for 35 gold. ARGH). Lately all I do is Alliance Battles, random arena, and foolishly hope my guild will get serious about GVG once more. So I know what it's like to have it and not need it. And still sometimes I go and farm in the desert just to pass a little time, and wind up with even more money...
