Story behind the Absorbtion runes
lg5000
Once in a while, we all come across the warrior who's outfitted his or her armor with 4 superior absorbtions, and most of us (well, me) have a laugh at that as absorbtion doesn't stack...
Or so I though, considering I ran into such a warrior yesterday and was told that it doesn't say they don't stack anymore.
Took a look, and sure enough, while all other runes say that they don't stack, the absorbtion ones dont.
My question now... do they really stack or is that one of those cases where the description is wrong?

Absorbtion runes do not stack. Only the best one matters, all the others are null and void.
Bane of Worlds
sup absorption runes do not stack with your sup ab runes but will stack with knight's/ascalon armor and shields

RPG PLAYER
you are right it never said that it is or isn't stackable

Nothing more needs to be said really, however I had a thought...
No two runes of the same type have ever stacked. However, as has been said, absorption runes DO stack with other forms of absorption (as in, not from runes). Adding the "non-stacking" line to the runes would be technically incorrect. However one could ask the question "Why then, does it say so on the attribute runes?". Since these runes obviously don't stack with same runes, they DO stack with every other form of attribute raising (items/mods/skills); and those all don't explicitly say they stack, except for the attribute hats.

Crap, I never knew that, I got like 3 runes in my armor.. shit... thanks for pointing that out

Zui
No, they don't stack. Anyone who says they do is an idiot. However, anyone who says Knights/Ascalon armor stacks with other peices is an even bigger idiot...
AW Lore
one of my guildies made a field test with that, and found that placing 5 superior runes dont stack.
lg5000
Ah right, thanks for the explanation on the wording there GreatLich, that actually makes sense.

First get a friend/guildmate to do a scrimmage with your warrior vs his elementalist. Bring a full non-knight set except for the boots, bring knight boots and any other boots that doest carry armor reduction.
The only skill that the ele should bring for the scrimmage is lightining strike, can be at max attributes, doesnt matter, the warrior can bring some healing spells like hal signet or Monk skills.
Now knowing that spells hits you in the CHEST bodypart ONLY ( you can test it out in this same scrimmage), let your elementalist friend hit you a couple of times with lightning strike, some hits while wearing knight boots and some hits without that.
You will see the damage difference, exact 2 points more than the hits with knight boots.
There you go, its stupid but its true, knight armor -2 base damage reduction stacks for the whole body, no matter where you use it.
Edit:Thx for pointing that out for me Avarre, oh well, goes as an explanation to others anyway, I see a lot of people saying the opposite.
Avarre
Uhh? He's saying knight boots don't stack with other knight pieces -> you can't wear 2 pieces of knight armor to get -4. You're talking about the global absorb mod.

The recent patch lists an updrager to Knights/Ascalon armor without giving details. Would be very interesting to see if the global reduction has been fixed.
