Sapphires - Any rumors about them? (You get only 250 gold @trader & can't rebuy them)

See topic. A friend got many sapphires so they got not totally removed from game.

But when he sell to trader, he gets only 250 gold from them and the trader is not selling it then.

Does anyone know something about that?

Thats odd I just went and checked and the vendor offerd me 700gp for mine.

None for sale on him though.

Many people were hoarding saphires, planning to get rich when they become useful. It would be incredibly funny if Anet just removed them from the game.

and yes they cant be bougth anymore becuase of ppl like me buying them up

If u read some gaile chats it says there WILL be a good use for them..

It's a well known BUG that is there for a couple of weeks. I repeat, it's a BUG not anything else, it's NOT the case somebody buys them all out for a month.
They still drop as normal (same rarity as rubies)
The trader is bugged so he won't show them in his inventory anymore and he is offering only the minimum price of 250g for them all the time (yes, 250, even if he shows more - just click Show Quote and it's always 250)
The trader's buy price got reset and isn't affected by supply/demand model like every other material, he just buys them for the same price as any [Merchant]

Both rubies and sapphires can be just an anet's experiment on the economy, as they have completely no use ingame they are just wares used for trading and speculating. The missing sapphires can be an intended feature as a part of an economy experiment or just a bug.

im waiting for "proper" confirmation first...nothing againt gaile but lets wait and see + might not stick around for chap3 the piracy and evil ways of eve online are calling me...ppl try to be too friendly in this game

Looks like one of a hundred little reason to make ppl buy Chapter 3. I'm also waiting for some Ogres to get added so I can test my uber Ogre-slaying butterknife.

Oh and I forgot Gwen's flute and cape- they also promised that there'd be use for them, SOMEDAY...

crap! i only have 10 sapphires stacked up because i haven't gotten the chance to play for a while.

It's like paper money. And yeah i find it odd also that sapphire is out, but one droppped for the other day, so yay.

I've got a few... used my last bunch for a quick cash inflow when chapter 2 came out, probably going to do the same for chapter 3, to fund my skill points and armor.

According to the GuildWiki, Ettins and Yetis are classed as Ogres.

I checked it out after getting a gold bow with an ogreslaying mod...

It's already been stated that the Ogre bonus on the Ogre Slaying Knife was a joke based off of a DnD song.

Usually a comment from a person who themselves couldnt afford to hoard and just jealous lol. And I doubt they are removing from the game.

And like mentioned its just a bug. Also sapphires are still dropping. I like how they drop in zones in factions.

The Knife was, yes - but in Factions you can get weapon drops that are modded with Ogreslaying. There are even shields with a +AL vs Ogres. That makes it more likely that something in-game is counted as an Ogre.

The Yeti's seem to be a good bet as to the "Ogre" classification...
