Why is it that Dwayna or Grenth gets almost all the press? Why do we never hear about Melandru or Lyssa? Balthazar, who I will call Balthy, pops up some in PvP.
But we never hear nor see Melandru or Lyssa. What the heck do they even do? Why are they even in the game? Why is Dwayna, goddess of everything, the goddess of spring? Melandru makes alot more sense (thinking back to Wintersday there).
Please let Lyssa and Melandru do more in the future. They've got to be the bored goddesses of Tyria (and Cantha).
How many gods are there in Tyria? (Rhetorical Question)

Come to think of it, I wonder why we can't get faction for any gods but Balthazar...
Yanman.be
Balthazar = god of war, pvp = war, thus balthazar faction...
Maybe we should get melandru faction for saving as many forests as possible!
and Lyssa faction for misleading people!

Suggest we have factions for Dwayna by helping newbies with quest and missions.
But what do we do with Dwayna's factions?
Gain Melandru's faction from giving free items to newbies
Again, what to do with Melandru's faction?

I did brainstorm an idea of implementing various Allegiences with the deities, much like Kurzick and Luxon allegiences, only without the hating.
Guilds and their members would be able to earn Faction with their chosen deity, and use it to unlock skills (ala Balth faction), craft deity specific armour (ala Jade& Amber).
The big part of what I was thinking was then introducing bonuses to the guild in GvG depending upon the Deity they chose, like the following example:
Something like this would provide something a little different on the battlefield without trying to create an obvious advantage to any team.

- Melandru: +50hp blessing
- Dwayna: +1 regen blessing
- Lyssa: +10 max energy blessing
- Grenth: 10% increased hex durations
- Balthazar: +10% Armour penetration (maybe a little too much)

Yeah, I've been asking for something like this for a while. We've got the Fissure for Balthazar, and Underworld for Grenth. What about elite areas for Melandru, Lyssa, and Dwayna? C'mon NCsoft and Anet, where's the love?

I've never really thought about this, but u are actually right Miss Innocent. As for u guys, Yanman.be and lightblade, u seem to be mocking this suggestion...
Alathys, your idea is not bad, but I think it would cause inbalance.
10% increased hex durations: think about SS or HP degen mesmers...
+10% Armour penetration: soft targets would suffer too much...
As for the other blessings, I can't say for sure.
I think these blessings could only be applied to PvE areas, where u can find statues, so u wouldn't always get the moral and HP regen blessings from every god u see. Though I believe players don't use these blessings much.
Verlas u are right about the role of these gods. Balthy for FoW and Grenth for UW. All the others are not used. 2 Dwayna statues give u small quests (Sardelac Sanitarium and Druid's Overlook as far as I know) and that's all about Dwayna. In the case of the Winter's Day event Dwayna was supposed to be Santa Clause and Grenth was supposed to be the Grinch. Melandru and Lyssa still had no major roles in any events, since Halloween was also more like Grenth's event. Balthy has his own role in PvP.
U are right about requesting new elite areas for the other gods as well, as for small quests, I don't think they are necessary.
Finally, speaking about the role of faction points in GW, I came up with a relatively simple solution.
My idea: Let everyone have the faction points according to which god they worship.
Example:
Warrior - Balthazar's factions
Monk (healing and protection)- Dwayna's factions
Monk (smiting) - Balthazar's factions
Ranger - Melandru's factions
Mesmer - Lyssa's factions
Necromancer - Grenth's factions
Elementalist (fire) - Balthazar's factions
Elementalist (water, ice) - Grenth's factions
Elementalist (air, lightning) - Dwayna's factions
Elementalist (earth) - Melandru's factions
Ritualist - Grenth's factions
Assassin - Lyssa's factions
(for more information on god alignments, read the manual.... or guildwiki....)
In case of Monks and Elementalists, since they can change their attributes it would also mean they change alignment. Solution: add a hidden counter to the game to count how often the person used fire, water, air, etc. skills/spells and decide which god u worship. If u use more fire then u go fot Balthy, if u use more water then u go for Grenth, and so on...
Simply rename the Priest of Balthazar to Priest of the Ancient gods...
These faction points would do exactly the same thing, so only their name and icons would be different. Players would feel a lot more that they are getting the faction points from their actual gods. More realistic and diverse...

back onto why do dwayna and grenth always get talked about? well they are 2 huge gods, its life and death, heaven and hell, the change in seasons, w/e, the outcome of everything is based off of these 2 deitys.
Blaster The Warrior
you get +1 on attributes from a statue :Pand regeneration so its good but there are like 5 gods in tyria and same amount in factions
