Does buying minipets, stop you getting a birthday present?

hey guys, sorry if this has been answered before, i am a bit lost on this issue and search feature is down. If i buy a minipet, does it stop me from receiving my birthday present for each character when they are a year old? i thought this was just a silly rumour, but i do keep hearing it. I want to get someone a minipet, but i dont want to do it if it stops me getting one for my birthday and if it stops them getting one too, any help on this will be very appreciated.

Why would it? Ive heard of people buying a minipet before their birthday and still getting one. So no.
