Ungues of the Oni W/Mo solo farm

Well, since no one else has posted one I figure I will. This is a difficult farm, even I fail at it a lot, so it isn't for those new to farming. It takes concentration, so if you can't concentrate this probably isn't the farm for you =)

Let's get started...

The Attributes:
Healing Prayers 8
Strength 9+3=12
Axe Mastery 9+1=10
Tactics 10+3+1=14

The Build:
Gladiator's Defense {E}
Cyclone Axe
Dolyak Signet
Bonetti's Defense
Sprint
Vigorous Spirit
Live Vicariously
Mending

My Gear:
End game Dragoncrest Axe green
Merki's Gaze: health +30, dmg -2 while enchanted, req. 9 str.
Glads armor with a sup tactics and sup strength

To start off, you must run from Leviathan Pits, through Gyala Hatchery, to Rhea's Crater to the bridge where the Oni spawn. Now for the difficult part... you must now put up Live Vicariously and Vigorous Spirit BEFORE YOU ENGAGE (this is very important, because they cast Shadow Shroud, very annoying). Once you aggro them and they reach you throw up Dolyak Signet and keep it up the duration of the fight because they like to knock you over if it isn't up. The whole point to the Superior Strength rune is to make this skill give more armor and make it last longer. As soon as they have all circled you, put up Gladiator's Defense and you should start to see their health drop fast. Keep using Cyclone axe to build up adrenaline and to heal yourself. Once Gladiator's Defense ends, put up Bonetti's Defense in order to keep yourself alive until the next Gladiator's Defense. Also, make sure to keep up Vigorous Spirit in between their casts of Shadow Shroud. After the 2nd Gladiator's Defense, generally 1-2 are dead and its usually simple from there as long as you keep repeating everything. Once you kill the entire group, let your energy regen and get up your enchants so you can engage the next group that pops up. I warn you, this is a difficult farm to do. It would probably be much faster and safer if you 2-manned with an SS necro or something. Screenshot below of the dropped item, notice my DP so even I die a lot =P

I hope you found this useful. Enjoy the farm =)

Also can someone post a pic of the easiest way to run to the bridge of oni, through the carp or the outcasts?

The Rt build is in the New Items thread.
I usually kill two groups of 1Warrior+2Sins before the Oni.
Only thing that kills me if the Assassins disrupt Khanhei, which happens fairly regularly.

I never die before I engage the Oni, and now rarely die when I engage the Oni. I skip those groups with this build, even though they are simple to kill with it. It just takes practice. I mean, if you really wanted to go full out with this build, you could replace Sprint with Watch Yourself, but the runs would be slower =/

just how many oni spawn there?? If it is around 4... they can be soloed relatively easily with an all stance build. I've been using that to slaughter oni at zos chivros channel(explorable)

Actually thats easily avoided. I took out one of the not so important ritualist spells for mantra of resolve, and when I need to use the second Khanhei, I hit both the resolve and the Khanhei at the sametime. Fixes any interrupt problems.

Go over once and there will be one group, go back and the second group will pop.

Build I use myself:

Strength 15
Tactics 16
Axe rest

And I use 2 sup runes.

Skills:
Gladiator's defense
Bonetti's defense
Sprint
Dolyak signet
Healing signet
Cyclone axe
Whirlwind
"On your knees!"

Zealous axe of defense and crimson carapace shield.

Basically you just use whirlwind to recharge gladiator's. Takes a bit training since they (Onis) use refuge every now and then and you're screwed pretty badly if you burn your adrenaline then. Moreover I enter from Seafarer's rest and get killed there. Makes it getting there a bit easier.

BTW my build still works, it just takes practice

Whirlwind will knock down the Oni's, and "On Your Knees!" recharges all your stances if there are any knocked down foes in the area. Can give you constant Glad's Defense, which is brilliant.

I tried the OP's build, found I took too much damage and didn't have sufficient healing.

Would replacing Glad Def with Triple Chop be viable?

By the way, the run there... Is hell. Could you post a map of the route you take? Rhea's is seriously hellish.

Thanks much, very appreciated.

Thanks much, very appreciated. Yeah, just tried and I see no way of getting to the Oni from Rhea's Crater? :/ (Read: I do see the way, but those Outcast bitches are everywhere)

Doable with my Cultist farming build... which just proves that anything with weak healing is solo'able given enough time, space and poison...

Fairly intimidating...

but they don't chase you forever, and poison gets them in the end...

*says it in the most nicest way possible* You're absolutely correct. It is much slower than doing it w/ a ritualist or warrior. I just happen to not have either of those at the moment. So I guess my post is for people who have a ranger primary and wanted the daggers.

BTW: These oni seem to drop gold and purple oni daggers a lot. They've also dropped a purple 14^50 oni blade, but it was req 13. If only they'd be nice enough to grace me with a 15^50 req 8 blade... I'd forget all about the greens and leave them alone... for a while.

Thanks much, very appreciated. Triple chop doesn't work because it doesn't put out enough damage, and you end up healing yourself less with it. In glad's defense, they miss 75% of their attacks and with the amount of tactics I have I can get off 2 cyclone axes during it, which is more than enough to heal yourself.

Thx for help and a really nice build for these onis - even I killed them only once

Spike Trap {E}
Flame Trap
Barbed Trap
Dust Trap
Storm Chaser
Dodge
Troll Unguent
??? QZ or Serpents

Debatable on if you max expertise or wilderness survival.

Anyway... I'm interested. Personally I'd rather plink away at them from a safe distance.

Thx for help and a really nice build for these onis - even I killed them only once you have to time your sprint just right (preferably right after you cross the 1st bridge, the one before the oni)

the W/E build kills much faster, but you have to make sure you keep healed
