Ultimate Showdown
I Might Avenge U
You wouldn't normally see me in the assasin forums because i would normally play ranger but i have been playing assasin since factions came out so, I have felt a compulsive need to make this thread after reading alot of bullss...uhhh...BAD STUFF! i would like to keep this thread as a showdown of assasin vs. warrior(or w/e class you fell like promoting but mainly assasins are compared to warriors), and I man the whole enchillada I wanna see screenshots and builds and skills and....and......and(zounds of hours later...)and finally just overall opoion.
As appatizing as this may sound, I also have there should be rules as not to get: me, you, areanet, and guru in trouble please try to follow guidelines.
1. do not insult each other, try to promote your character and dont just spam, I HATE ...Bleep!...Bleep!...and so on, millions of times.
2.Try and make this productive to helping others realize and accept reasons why you think your character is better.
3.Breakout as much evidence you can utilize to your purpose(i.e. screenshots, build ideas, website links...e.t.c.)
4.There are AIN'T NO UNNOT RULES!!!
There shall also be a few catagories this should follow:
1.Damage Output 2.Armor Level&Health 3.Farming Ability 4.Skill(leet&norm)
5.Atributes 6.Speed 7.What they bring to the table
8.Why is should be your character
These will only act as a tool to help you form ideas, They have no real purpose to the thread.
Here are a few places that can help you with your ideas:
www.xennon.co.uk
www.guildwiki.org

Thank you all who participate and good luck to all.
Lets get it on!!
( if there is a poll feature on this website it would be nice if someone could tell me how to make it, it would be interesting to have )

one time i was vsing an assassin in ra with my war. it was 1v1 right from the start, nobody bothered us. he did leaping-jungle-horns-falling-twisting and i was reduced to <1/2 health. but i did not heal and proceeded to whack him, building adrenaline. when i hit a little above 7 i did devastating-crushing-heavy-irresistible-shock-normalhit and he died.
another time i was vsing a wammo with my sin. both our teams were dead and i had <1/2 health and he had a little over 1/2. i did leaping-temple-twisting. he tried to put mending, healing breeze and healing hands on, all of which were interrupted and he died.
both sin and war can solo monks IMO, with the right combo and timing of each hit

Not exactly what you had in mind, but I have an amusing story of an Assassin versus an Assassin in an Alliance Battle.
Both the Luxons and Kurzicks were being retarded, and everyone (and I mean, everyone) was fighting over one of the res shrines. I knew that someone on the Luxon team would be bright enough to try and go for our points on the opposite side of the map, and so I headed there.
Upon reaching the hillside, another lone Assassin came into view, started running for me, and then used Aura of Displacement. We fought for a while, both levelling each other's health evenly, until the other Assassin removed Aura of Displacement in an attempt to run. I hit with Caltrops, and caught up to continue my assault.
Anyway, a few seconds later, despite no one else being even in radar range of us, both of us died at the exact same time. Obviously the degen (both of us had Falling Spider), and the fact that both of us were under 20 or so health when it happened meant that as one of us killed the other, the degen rapidly took hold of them and they died too. The deaths were so close that neither of us knew who had actually died first.
Anyway, a little more on topic, I find that Warriors and Assassins can be pretty evenly matched. I've torn apart my share of Warriors as an Assassin, but just as many Warriors have taken to me and have come out on top. It really depends on build and experience, sometimes who starts attacking who first, and just who is doing better on the day. I'll try and remember any instances of this happening in the future and post about them.

Thanks so far guys, I've also done plenty of alliance battles in Fort Aspenwood(cause our guild sucks and hasn't alligned yet)and i find playing assasin is interesting.every so often(when i do it just right) i'll used Aura of Displacement (aka AOD and if any1 plays fort aspenwood you'll know luxons have to destroy master gunther and the kurzick's have to build the secret wepon[a giant tuba that fires flaming balls of death])at a bridge and that(if you do it right) will teleport you to the enemy where you can gank people as well as ensure your safety. SO one reason i'd say assasins are better is because they have...LEETZ TELE SKILLZZ LOL!in other words....they can teleport a reasonable distance will ensuring their saftey making them quite managable health wise.

Many problems Warriors have against assassins, especially in 1v1, is that they start to use Healing Signet once they notice their health drop. But keep this in mind!!:
The assassin just used their combo, and now they are hitting you for measley 1-digit numbers. Just build your adren and finish them off. healing signet is suicide while under focused-fire.
But i play assassin, so im not sure if i should have gave that little hint out to those who havent figured it out by themselves

The assassin warrior comparision... sigh...
This is one argument that will never turn up any evidence for one or the other... The only reason the assassin gets compared to a warrior is because they both are melee characters... THATS WHERE THE SIMULARITIES STOP...
If you want to compare an assassin to ANY other class in this game it should be the mesmer... The sin is designed as a support character, it was never intended to be the focus of a fight, which is what a warriors goal is, get in the frey and be the guy beating on people. An assassin's goal is to elminiate/disable major players in a group through nifty little ninja tricks(monks/casters). A mesmers goal is to disable major players in a group using hex's to trick people into killing themselves(monks/casters)... TRICKERY IS THE KEY! we now have a basis for comparision!
Unlike a warrior who's main goal is to fight and keep fighting and keep pounding hoping that the monks run out of energy or he gets enough support from his group, an assassin must rely on surprise and deception for his tactics to work... (Deception, illusion, hrm.. they just keep coming). For an assassin to be able to work his target down, he must first lull that target into a false sense of security, either by leaving him be, or waiting for him to retreat to the safty of the back lines, at which point the assassins opportunity arises.
Once that opportunity is there, the assassin must act quickly, whilst a warrior can usually just take his time, tank most the damage people throw at him, an assassin must unleash a quick flurry of skills to do the most damage possible before the target has a chance to react, inflicting conditions, hexing, and attacking...
The only time an assassin is truly effective is if the target the assassin picks isn't expecting it(this is a PvP example btw). The split second you are able to ambush your target and unleash a flurry of blows whilst he is distracted means he probably wont be lasting too much longer, because he was caught off guard.
Now for the mesmer, think about it, yes the mesmer cant attack, but the mesmer does focus on people who ARN'T PAYING ATTENTION, they are attacking your teammate and completly forgot u were there... The mesmer then SHUTS DOWN that player, effectivly rendering him dead unless he has hex removal out the wazoo... Both characters go for the dead man walking type of tactic, because they have to catch sombody off guard, and not focusing on them... Its as simple as that...

As the 'sins and mesmers have similair jobs in pvp, the assassin does it with a more "hands-on" approach. I completely agree with Cryptic and have since the release of Factions.
I think this is the real problem why so many new 'sins think they can tank like wamos. They see/knew that warriors can run in and beat stuff down without worry, so why cant they? They both have mellee attacks
But when you think about it, its rather primordial how so many peoples thought process works:
Warrior melee>Warrior Tank::Assassin melee>Assassin Tank
^^...sigh

First off I have to say this:
http://www.dictionary.com
Please use it. I'm getting stupider reading all these spelling errors. I see so many wrong spellings I can no longer remember correct spellings.
Second, I agree with Cryptic Quote when he said this:
All except for the "SIMULARITIES" part ( ), I completely agree. The assassins and warriors have completely different skills. As long as we're arguing class VS class, let's pose the Necromancer VS the Mesmer. They both cast and they both have hex degen spells, right?
And lastly, for the sake of argument and education, if we are only talking about melee damage capabilities (for example, attacking an 80AL target dummy), I'd have to say they are pretty equal. It all depends on the build.
That's my two cents: It all depends on the build.

I agree 100% with Cryptic and Lambent. Since I got factions, I've been playing my assassin pretty much all the time. I have a good understanding of how he works now. Most people try to tank or stay in a fight for an extended period of time, and it usually just gets them killed.
What I find works best is simply waiting at the back while your group goes in. You kinda just hang around until you see someone break off on your radar. That person should be your target.
Once you see they have actually moved a bit away from the fight, you can shadowstep right on top of them and kill them. Once theyre down, or youre sure they'll die, just get out of there! Dont hang around in the fight. As an Assassin, you are best when people dont expect you. When you catch them off guard you'll usually kill them in seconds.

Well i 1v1 a warrior in my guild once and i was running an AoD assassin. I used AoD on some of the people who cam in to watch it was funny but he was using Glads and both the riposites so i decided to go in next game as a crtical barrage......but i had to go.....so ya warrior farming builds can kill assasins but i have killed every profession countless times in aspendwood even with those STUPID 8 warrior turtle spawns.

thats why i think the "Warriors Bane" premade is the strongest and most universaly-useful premade you can choose from.
It shuts down warriors, assassins, rangers, and even casters who like to wand a target while they regain energy.

On my warrior I just use a stance while and assassin is in middle of combo
so he wastes one of his attacks and cant continue his combo
especially with the horns, spider, twisting fangs because that degen is lethal to wars
By the way I have an assassin and i hardly ever see warriors do this to me.

I've seen the Gladiator's Defense and Ripostes becoming popular in Alliance Battles, along with Bonetti's Defense to an extent. So, I started taking Blinding Powder and Unseen Fury .

I 1v1 wars all the time in Alliance Battles. It usually goes something like this:
1. I'll cast mark of instibility and expose defense. Use Black Lotus Strike, Twisting Fangs, Falling Spider, Horns of the Ox(gotta remember these are 1v1s.) Moebius strike, Horns of the Ox. And they're dead.
2. I'll cast mark of insitibility and expose defense. They'll cast Dolyak's Sig, and I'll get pwnd immensely.
