I played and enjoyed this game for over a month and then quit because my character (level 20) coudn't compete with the monsters-usually level 21 or 22. I prefer to play the game as a solo player. I have used the game generated teams to help me which is the way I would prefer to play the game. Can someone suggest how I can contiue play as a solo. I am ready to give it one more try before I quit the game for good.

first of all, what character are you using? primary and secondary.
how far along did you get? are you ascended and able to switch your secondary?
what areas are you having difficulty with?
I prefer to solo with either my warrior, ranger, and necro nowadays. I did use to solo with my monk, but decided to make other characters. It all depends on what area you are trying to solo.

I am in the Crystal Desert at the Augury Rock. I am a Battle Mage. Fire Magic is the weapon I use.

Mages are squishy character, which means more physical damage towards them, that they can't tank like a warrior. BUT, maybe ele/mesmer bring distortion to evade attacks, or go light ele and use blinding flash.
The Purple Pants Guy
I'd say earth magic armor buffs if you can get 'em yet. Or the mesmer stances physical/elemental resistance, just be sure to use the right one for the right situation.

Try a search (if it's working). There are tips and walk-throughs on individual missions and quests for various classes.
If it's any consolation, the first time through the game, it took me 20+ tries to complete the Elona Reach mission with henchies. I've completed it many times since, but that first time through, I was ready to hang it up.

You play an online, team oriented game without other team mates?
I must say you are missing one of the best parts of the game, the interactions with other players, preferrably guildies who you can trust and have fun with. Why not join a guild?
Some missions will be pretty hard for an elementalist to finish with just henchies, perhaps the last four. Also consider where you are and what element your enemies are likely resistant to and use whichever is appropriate. You may have to experiment to see what works, it won't be fire all the time.

Well, I play an elementalist and I'm at the Ring of Fire mission now, and I've done all but two of the missions with all henchman. The two I did with actual players were Frost Gate and Sanctum Cay. I actually found it pretty easy to use henchman with my elementalist because they stay at a range, and they have a lot of damage potential. Crystal desert was a bit of a pain to get through first of all though. Strangely enough I found those hydras a bitch when I was running through there with henchman, but I solo them now. The missions aren't too bad really. Just be persistant, and learn from your mistakes. If you lose a mission doing it a certain way, well try another way. Elona Reach for instance is really an easy mission once you get the hang of it. Once you know where to go it's pretty straight forward. And once you get past crystal desert, well the southern shiverpeaks missions are a joke in my opinion. Ran through all three of em with henchman without a problem. I'm finding the ring of fire mission a bit tricky though!
