Securing Echovald Forest, your thoughts?
myword
did a search earlier and came up with nothing so here goes
here's a description of the quest in question, courtesy of guidwiki: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Securing_Echovald_Forest
currently, the quest can be completed by running to the 4 designated checkpoints, before you even accept the quest from Scoutmaster Arne. Here's what's going on.
Your party splits up, runs to the 4 designated checkpoints, die, take the quest from Scoutmaster Arne, he'll consider you to have completed the quest and you receive your reward.
What this does is it lets you bypass the Luxon groups, that spawn only after you accept the quest. 2 minute run for 400 kurzick faction.
Is the quest working as intended (ie. an easily farmable quest) and is there a Luxon equivalent of this quest? (I haven't PvE'd much lately and as far as Luxon zones, haven't made it past Cavalon.)

....How could you trigger the quest update by running to each of the 4 checkpoints WHEN NOBODY in your team HAS THE QUEST?
I don't think you can. Since there's no quest to begin with, what would be updated?
You can only do what you said if one of your teammates has the quest though. And you won't find any Luxons if you know where they will spawn and just avoid the spots (these spots are not the same as the checkpoints).

i thought it was common knowledge when i learnt it from my roommate who was in one of the guilds in oOo, apparently it isn't?

Think you can. I cleared the map for fun the other day, in the process going through all the check points. Then I talked to Scoutmaster Arne. He gave me the quest, and instantly it was completed. Then it rained Luxons!
I myself, just IMHO, think faction farming drives down amber prices. Of course with the tax on faction for alliances, faction farming is going to be done. The whole faction system needs work I think. dustbunny

Yes there is. It's in Mount Quinkai explorable area. You have to hit 4 points in that explorable area as well and you can do it before taking the quest.

I don't understand the replies that say "No - this can't be done." Obviously, the OP has done it, knows how to do it, and continues to do it. I did not know about this until now, but judging by the Faction holding HzH, I assume this is what people are doing. During the days before the nerf of the Luxon Supply Line quest, Cavalon barely topped 12 million - I'm not sure that it even broke 12 million. That run took about 2 mins as well.
This WILL be nerfed. No question about it. Or more correctly, I should say it will be corrected. They will probably change the fact that you can complete the objectives before taking the quest. There is a Mapping the Jade Sea quest, but I have never tried it. I don't know if it has the same exploitable characteristics. Actually, I take that back. It probably does because everytime I have done a supply run, I also get message that my Charting the Jade Sea quest has been updated, even though I never took the quest. Don't expect to be able to do this much longer. wassup1444465
It's actually easy enough to do that I can do this and several chest run maps on my monk runner :/ It'll definately get nerfed.

the main point is that a single character can run this quest for 7 ppl waiting afk just at the exit of lutgardis... def not funny for ppl that actualy play the game.
nerfed for sure sooner or later, in 2 ways 1- locations doesnt trigger be4 u pick the quest up 2- the quest is not completed if u don't reach the 4 places yourself easy enought. can still be runned, way harder and not for 8 ppl as it's now anarion

it's already been around for quite some time already
My Sweet Revenga
I hope when they do nerf/correct it, what they do is make it so you can't tag the points unless you take the quest first. I really hope they don't decide to put more enemies between the start and the points because after this ff method is nerfed, I would still like to run around and grab some chests (wow that didn't sound right)
Fates
Ya, I use it as a chest run, not a FF run, but I do collect the faction as a bonus. 4 minutes a run max, get 3-4 chests every time and 400 faction. Not too bad. The vast majority of the chests are crap though. Working on 3rd lvl treasure hunter

True, but Mapping the Jade Sea isn't repeatable. Plus you have to hit all five points before leaving the zone, or it resets.
So yea, it has the exploit also, but it isn't a major problem. |
