my ranger has a 5/1 vamp mursaat horn bow for pvp
sundering long bow for pvp
and sundering recurve bow for pve
both pvp bows are used in pve (the vamp is mostly just a barrage build)

I use:
A Meynsang's Longbow
A Graygore's Shortbow
A Zealous Mursaat Hornbow for barrage
I'd like a Recurve bow with zealous, but I'm low on money now.

5:1, +29 Mursaat Hornbow
5:1, +30 Longbow (Ironwing)
Poisoners, +30 Longbow (Elswyths)
5:1, +30 Recurve (Elswyths)
Zealous, +5 Shortbow (Greygores)
Poisoners, +29, -5en Shortbow
Poisoners, +15 armour Longbow (mainly kept for sentimental reasons, and the fact that it's gone from the game, also looking to change it to a +10 armour, +30hp)
Now I just need Rotwings Recurve Bow and I'm done for a while.

What is the type of Zodiac skinned bows?
Numa Pompilius
The reason all you guys use recurve, is that because you all use Barrage?
Because if you don't (heck, even if you do), seriously try out a flatbow instead. Longer range and much faster firing rate more than make up for the innate 10% sundering. Add Read The Wind and you have the same speed on the arrows and the same low arc too.

you should really only be using a Flatbow if you are using RtW or Fav. Winds... if your not... don't expect to hit anything unless they are stationary targets

My favourite bow model of all time has to be...
But alas, a cruel twist of fate would have it be a Horn Bow, probably the most useless bow-type of all. Tarnok's Recurve Bow was just a slap in the face... sundering/enchant(ed/ing)...
**************** Dirty lies *********************
Apparently they're good for spiking, but I'm not entirely sure.
I know for a fact that Quick Shot and Needling Shot's cast times are actually based on your attack speed. The static '1 second' cast time listed on the skills seems to mean 100% of your attack speed. It's the same for the 1/2 second cast time spells of Warriors, such as Protector's Strike and Savage Slash, they're also based on your attack speed. Their '1/2 second' cast time seems to mean 200% of your attack speed.
So, if a Ranger's interrupts are effected in the same way... I'm wondering if a Horn Bow's slower attack speed is actually hurting the spike more than the 10% AP is helping.

If you are playing a Ranger for spiking, yes, a Hornbow is best to use. The extra, base 10% armour penetration is very helpful in a spike or when just dealing damage. Other than that, other bows are better.
I also just tested Quickshot on the Isle of the Nameless with a recurve bow, short bow, long bow and horn bow, and you are wrong. The Hornbow fires a Quickshot just as fast as a shortbow does, same as interrupts such as Punishing shot, which is used in spiking. So yes, if spiking, a Hornbow is best. As soon as Quickshot is ready to fire again, the bowtype makes no difference, it still fires in 1 second and has a 1 second recharge. You might have gotten confused with the aftercast added to Ranger interrupts.

Well, having a ranger, I know my bows Personally, I think they're the most expensive class to spend for weapons...being that they're usually only PARTLY marksman, not completely.
Favourite Longbow Skins: Storm Bow, Zodiac, Platinum, and the unique Urgoz's Longbow (Matches the colour of my armor ^^)
Favourite Recurve Skins: Dead Bow, Eternal Bow (Gee, there really aren't much, but the recurve is the 133754uc3 bow ^^)
Favourite Hornbow Skins: Mursaat, Dragon (dyed black!), Ivory (The contrast against black or darker armor is awesome ^^)
Favourite Shortbow Skins: er...I don't really have any shortbows -_- but if i did, Half Moon
And remember...if i say it's popular, it's popular xD j/k...(but seriously...kinda true xD)

I use the following:
Crippling Zodiac Bow of fortitude 15%Enchanted (to carry)
Vampiric Ironwing Longbow of Fortitude 15^50 (general Use)
Silencing Recurve Bow of Fortitude 15^50 (Interrupt)
Vampiric Shortbow Of Defence 15%Stance (to use while in a stance and being hit at close range)
I simply use the zodiac for the look while not in combat to prevent death by my vamp.

I just use an Ivory bow :/

Collector bows ftw!
I have a 15>50 longbow, a 15>50 recurve bow, and 15>50 flatbow, and a 15>50 shortbow. I haven't decided what mods to put on which ones yet, though. Of course, they all look the same, so it's a pain to resort them when I forget which is which.

My ranger is currently sporting the 20/20 +30Hp version of dragos Flat. But i'd much prefer a Bramble Longbow dyed red with the mods just with +15 always -10AR. But sadly I don't have 100k plus to drop on a bow.
floplag
general purpose/interrupt= Recurve .. i use this the vast majority of the time
melee close quarters = shortbow
sniping = long
pulling = flat

As far as skins go, the Dead Bow seems to be the rarest in the game (as far as perfects)

I like all sort of bows. My current collection,
1x zealous storm bow of enchantment(for JI)
3x element long bow of enchantment(3 type of conjure, Port sledge collector)
1x Elswyth's poison longbow
1x Green endgame Ironwing longbow
1x shocking zodiac longbow of fortitude(collection)
1x fiery shortbow of fortitude( my first max bow from collector )
1x Drago's Flatbow
1x Ryver's shortbow( my new favorate bow skin)
1x Rotwing
...and i seriously need more storage space

I love recurve bows. They are pretty much the general bow that I use all the time.

Maxed. I think that covers it.

For PvE recurve... low flight time, perfectly syncs w/ barrage
For PvP Horn Bow +10% AP Permanent
Vamp > Sunder

The new best skin is Rotwings Recurve. That thing is just plain sexy.

I used to have a req. 8 15>50 Storm Bow on my Monk for pulling, but it was customized, and I deleted my Monk. I miss that bow though.. I should really get one of those for my new Monk as well

Short bow or flatbow for pve hands down... your whole job is dps and fastest attack speed is an absolute neccesity. Only difference is barrage ranger that yeah can go with recurve (I personally think barrage sucks but hey, thats just me).
Recurve for crippling shot or oath shot builds, horn bow for spiking, short bow for overall damage builds.
Oh and to all you people with fiery bow strings... I hope you know kindle makes arrows deal fire damage for conjure purposes ><

Fav skin has to be feathery long bow and storm, cuz they the original. My fav in pvp is horn bow, cuz its accurate and dmging. Pve, i love the shortbow, just cuz i like to shoot fast.

Doesn't really matter what bows I have in my inventory, I almost always end up using Elswyth's recurve bow anyway. Best 3k I've ever spent.

I have too many bows than i can use and still pursuing some more....

I finally have my fourth bow to finish off my PvE Ranger.
1. 14>50 Storm Bow of Fortitude +29 - Perfect enough for me.
2. Collectors Ascalon Bow 15>50 - Poisoners string and health mod +22
3. Elswyths Bow - The vampiric one. Great for tombs runs.
and just added...
4. Ryver's Shortbow - Crippling is bonus. I like the faster speed.
And my favorite skin? I honestly think Ryver's Shortbow is beautiful. My favorite common skin is a storm bow.
And I must bee the only person in GW who thinks Celestial Bows are ass ugly. I've given away some near perfect ones. They did such a nice job with Stormbow skins and the green skins, I think maybe it was Let Your Kid Design A Bow day at A-Net, and some rugrat got out his crayolas and made the celestial skin.

You gotta use the right tools for the job.
for choking gas ranger, I use a shortbow, due to it's fast rate of fire that allows you to constantly hit that caster. (zealous bow string, i really need to change that out for something...it came that way.)
A shortbow seems Ideal for the flameslinger build, as once again you're getting a fast rate of fire without getting the HORRENDOUS accuracy of the flatbow.
for r spike, there's my 20/20 longbow and my 5/1 vamp shadowbow (hornbow). These are the standard bows for any good r-spike.
for crip shot ranger, nundet's recurve bow (crippling string).
for spirit spamming in halls, rotwing's recurve bow (+5 energy recurve)
If you are packing a bar full of interrupts, recurve bow. Ideally one that works with a preperation. Poisonous would be decent here, but If I'm interrupting, I probably just play crip shot anyway.
For barrage, I alternate between my r spike hornbow with the 5/1 vamp, and a zealous recurve bow (i use that green deadbow, whatever It's name is...) depending on the mood I'm in.
I never ever use a flatbow, because they are disguisting. if you want faster rate of fire, use flurry/frenzy/tiger's fury and a longbow. you shouldn't have to use two skills to make one of those bows have decent accuracy, especially when one is a preperation.
there is no best bow for any situation...but there are better bows for certain situations. However, never use a flatbow, unless it's some crappy white one and You need to pull for your group.
