Baltazar faction points/alliance battles rant ...
floplag
ok, i was initially very glad to see Baltazar points added to alliance battles. until i tried to use them.
please explain to me why i can use my PvE based characters in allaince battles, yet the Baltazar faction are completely useless to them as the skills are only useable on PvP based characters ?
newsflash, not everyone has a PvP slot on thier char lists .. or wants one. some of us have been primarily PvE players since we got them game and this would have been a huge boon to us to be able to earn those unlocks like the PvP players
i mean we all know it really the PvP that seems to matter to the powers that be, and we that do PvE are an after thought, but this is just silly. why give us something we cant even use ?
the unlocks should be granted to ANY character that takes part in the AB, not just PvP chars in my opinion
end rant

PvE characters can earn Balthazar faction in the other Arenas and GvG too, but can't unlock skills for PvE chars with it. It's been that way for months now, and it's not a big deal, considering PvE chars can unlock skills much faster than PvP chars anyway. Live with it.
What's next, a rant that PvP characters can't do anything with their earned skill points?

if the character has been used in PvE, and now PvP, why shouldnt the same rules apply ?
in the case of a PvE char thats spent countless hours in development, why shouldnt i get the same opportunity as you ?
if it is indeed so much harder, why do you care anyway ?
bottom line, any char should get the same reward for the same time/activity .. be its a PvE or PvP char is irrelevant

your pve character can use the faction the same way any other character can....I dont see the issue.
unless you are suggesting that your pve character should be able to use balth faction to purchase skills....which is absolutly rediculous for 100 reasons.
Balth faction is used for unlocks in pvp. It was put in place so that pvpers dont have to grind pve to be competitive. You can still unlock things with your pve character, but it wont do you much use if you are just gonna farm pve all day. The fact that you refuse to acknowledge 50% of the game is your problem.
EDIT: You are obviously confused: all chars do, in fact get the same reward and benefit for the same time/activity. You need to learn how faction is used if you think otherwise.

ok, so by your logic, if i take my PvE char to HA for example .. i can used the faction rewards in the same way ? do i get to use the faction reward from AB in the same way ?
just becasue the char started out in PvE has noithing to do with how its used now. thats the point.
and the answer is that i dont get to, as you know. i cannot use baltazar to unlock skills even though i earned the faction in exactly the same way a PvP char did.
i rather surprised this is lost on so many. i can see whay every single skill wouldnt be made available to a 5 minute old PvP char .. but to limit what a PvE char can do for no reason other than he started in PvE, even though hours have been invested in him, seems a bit silly if hes now being used for mostly PvP ?
same faction ,same ability to use it, its really rather simple if you can look past the bias toward PvP or PvE

no, see, you are wrong. the answer is YES. Your PVE character CAN use faction in the EXACT same way that a PVP character can! THIS IS A FACT! You CAN use balthazaar faction to UNLOCK SKILLS with your PVE character. how hard is this to understand?
example:
PVE char: kills some shit and gets 1,000 faction. talks to priest of balth and says "pay 1000 faction to unlock mending." Account loses 1,000 faction. Mending is now unlocked, and is available for use on any newly created PvP character.
PVP char: kills some shit and gets 1,000 faction. talks to priest of balth and says "pay 1000 faction to unlock mending." Account loses 1,000 faction. Mending is now unlocked, and is available for use on any newly created PvP character.
Balth faction is ACCOUNT BASED. Your ACCOUNT benefits by getting things unlocked. No specific character benefits from unlocking items (not even pvp chars). You chosing not to utilize these benefits (i.e. create pvp characters) is your own problem.
I can't believe I'm explaining this. Its no different than saying "I got money from the hoh chest on my pvp char, but it can't buy fissure armor." The pvp char earned the money, but can only benefit from it through pve. Same is the case here. You ARE BENEFITING FROM THE FACTION. You are simply chosing not to use it, for whatever reason.
The "bias" you refer to can very easily be argued both ways, which is NOT something that you wanna get started on, trust me.

Unlocking a skill with Balthazar's faction actually can help your PvE character. Since the update a few months back, every skill you have unlocked (excluding Elites and those outside your profession) is available for purchase at EVERY Skill trader. Therefore, if there is a skill you really, really, really want, but aren't far enough in the game for the Skill traders to offer it, you can purchase it with Balthazar's faction, and it will now be available for purchase by your PvE character.

This is not a concept that has been "lost" to us or anything of the sort. Balthazar Faction is meant to benefit PvP players for their PvP playing. The fact is that you shouldn't have to invest all those hours just to be able to play PvP. The game was designed and improved to minimize the need for that kind of grinding. It's your own damn fault for taking up every single slot on your account with a PvE character. Next time, think before you do something that will give you such a handicap in the future, and stop with your self-righteous whining.

I cant believe you are complaining about balthazar faction. Balthazar faction was added because PVP only players didnt want to PVE to unlock mods, runes and skills. The randomness of weapon mods made it difficult to get top end weapon mods for PvP. Same with runes. This is why faction is here. For PVGOREDP
If you want something "tangible" for your balthazar faction, read this suggestion thread:

salabo .. maybe we weret all around back then... not everyone bought this game for PvP .. and im getting involved in that side of the game after completing the PvE side to further my enjoyment of the game. thats one thing that annoys me to no end on this site .. the constant "been there done that use the search button" comments. not everyone has been here since day 1 peeps, and search is almost always disabled.. try being a little more tolerant, it makes things nicer for everyone
Big L .. maybe im not understanding you .. but i cannot unlock a skill using Baltazar faction with my PvE char and use it, unless i have a PvP only char. i see what your saying, but still feel it doesnt make sense to limit these things in this way. for my point and yours, why does it matter what the origin of the character is ?
if you want to get items you cant get as a PvP only char, you should be able to do that, just as i should be able to take advantage of things that come out of the PvP areas of the game. im arguing one side of it but defintely feel it affects both
