Can anyone clearly state the benefits/weaknesses of different elemental damages? In PvE.

Yes, I've read GuildWIki. Yes, I still have questions!

Now, I understand that creatures in Kryta are weak to fire, and the inhabitants of the Ring of Fire don't handle cold damage well. However, I haven't found a definitive list of where each elemental damage is most effective.

Heck, I'd be happy with a list of creatures telling what their elemental weaknesses/defenses are.

As for Ebon (earth) damage: Is there any place where it is good or bad?

Earth are usually bad against water type creatures such as ice golem.

If I remember right.

I suppose there is no exhaustive list because nobody is 100% sure what resistances/weaknesses monsters may have. However, I asked similar questions a while ago and the results were that fiery mods were usefull in the most situations. Earth damage was best mostly against warrior types that may have physical resistances, which really any elemental damage would overcome.

It's pretty obscure what enemies are weak against what. You can't just say, "Hmmm.. that guy lives in the Shiverpeaks, so he must be weak against fire." or, "That's a fish creature, so it's probably weak against lightning."
Here's an example, the big stone Earth Elementals outside Ascalon are weak against fire. What the hell?
So you really just either have to memorize a list someone gives you, or waste a lot of time trying to figure it out yourself.

I've com to the conclusion that elemental damage isn't al that good, unless you're fighting a very homogenous group with known weaknesses.

I'm sticking to Vampiric and Sundering mods for my bow.

Honestlly the way mods are set up i dont think many people use elementall dmg as warriors or rangers. I think you see more ele damage with caster weapons.

Elemental damage is great on a warrior weapon as well, it avoids the bonuses that other warriors get against physical damage - e.g the +50 (overall) vs physical attacks that the dragon armor gives your enemy is negated by using a shocking sword hilt etc.

I don't think it has anything to do with monstertype (although there's reports about ice golems being incredibly weak to fire...). I believe it is strictly class-specific.

I noticed that ALL warrior monsters take more damage from any elemental or dark/shaos/whatever weapon.
ALL Ranger monsters have resistances to elemental damage and will take more damage from physical.
Monk monsters is something in-between, I'd just go with physical vs those except for when you have conjure element as a W/E or R/E. Then you'll obviously do more damage than physical.

The only thing I'm 100% sure of is that:
- use elemental vs warrios
- use physical vs rangers, ALWAYS (use vampiric)
- use whatever you want vs the others unless you have the conjure element skill(s) (that rodgort think that causes burning when hit by fire is interesting too)
- sundering is poo vs all
