Guild Wars Sound Effects

Guild Wars is definitely lacking a supply of different sounds/music to compliment its awesome game play. You already have to pay (How much was it?) 5…10 dollars or something like that just for that extra music pack that by my standards should have been included in the game for free (Pre-Order). Its pretty horrid having to hear the same music through out the entire Jade Sea, and it’s a shame since its full of such diverse life. Where’s the howling wind crossing over the barren jade plains? The roaring echo from one of the giant snails yawning? In Kaineng Center there should be hustle and bustle and chit chatter from all the merchants and trade going about. I know many people play with outside music playing, but why does it have to be that way? RP is RP for a reason, it should emerge you every way possible into the world its created.

So here is my compiled list of sound effects….
-Creatures (Turtles, Snails, Juggernauts) need natural sound effects.
-Fighting NPC's (In battles) need to make sounds while fighting. (Shouting, Roaring, Taunting)
-Natural Sound effects per enviorment (Winds on the Jade Sea, Eery echo in Echovald Forest)
-Merchant/Trader/Crafter NPC chit chatter (Or just a sound effect in all market areas)
-Fire Dmg mods should sound like fire, not the weapon's normal sound effect.
-Cold Dmg mods should sound like ice, not the weapon's normal sound effect.
-Earth Dmg mods should sound like earth, not weapon's normal sound effect.
-Lightning Dmg mods should sound like thunder, not weapon's normal sound effect.

Thats all I have for now, constructive input welcome.

While it is a good idea, adding sounds will reduce framerates due to the game engine's 3D sound calculations, which may raise the system requirements a bit. One of GW's best points is how it works relatively well on older hardware. Changing some of the existing sounds is a great idea though.

Or add another slider for 'audio richness', which controls the amount of 'unneeded' sounds, so it wouldn't affect system requirements at all.

No! PLEASE no more audio sliders! Heh, after the disasters the first one caused, I might roll over and die if they put another one in.

Anyone else think they should remove the mumbling voices as the background noise in KAINENG? It's soooo annoying, I prefer to listen to just the music. And I don't like to turn off sound effects, because I like to hear birds and other environment sounds in the background of other maps...

I play with most of my music way low down since I don't plan to play on lag and music slowing down my gameplay.

Heightened state of mind.

I wouldn't mind some sound improvement myself, but it certainly isn't something I couldn't live without, and if it causes significant drawbacks than it certainly wouldn't be worth it. I am much more interested in some new terrain and gameplay elements rather than sound effect enhancements, I would sooner ask for a more diverse and upbeat soundtrack in future chapters as well.

factions music needs to change and mix track like in what they ended up doing in prophecies...helps keep music variety during gameplay
