Farming Ghial's Staff

Well I suppose like every other Necro player I'm trying to get my hands on Ghial's Staff. I have two aversions to buying one. First I don't have 80K laying around, and two I belive in earning it the hard way(because i don't ahve 80K lying around ). I've banged my way up with henchies and killed him a couple times, but have yet to get the staff to drop. Of course I usually get whacked more often than I actually get to him.

So does anyone have a good build or a good strategy to increase my chances of getting this staff? Thanks all in advance.

Well, for one, don't go with henchies. The drops get assigned to henchies so they may get your staff.

There are several threads on this forum for farming this guy with Warrior builds. There's also a touch ranger thread that says it's possible to solo Ghail. I haven't tried it yet, but it may be.

I'm skeptical that a 55hp Necro build would work. The place is crawling with mesmers that Expel Hexes so you lose any SS AND covering hex you apply. I've messed with a Death 55hp before that used tainted flesh some other fast casting necro goodies. It was mostly a bust.

Honestly, if you don't have your heart set on the green staff, just go out and get a 20/20 death wand and 20/20 death offhand from the crafter/collector. You can also get a 20 +1 offhand as well. Much cheaper and just as effective if not more.

It's apparently also doable with a whammo (not the farming build)... There is also a thread about farming him with a W/Mo and the touch ranger one says that it's possible.

I used a combination of the 55hp necro and touch ranger,

Vamp touch,
Touch of agony,
Offering of blood,
Watchful spirit
Mending
PS
Bals
Essence

and got Ghials a couple of nights ago (thank goodness) with my 55hp necro. It takes awhile to get to Ghial but I think the quickest way seems to be to run to the res point halfway to Ghial From Senji's then kill everything up to Ghial, lure Ghial and maybe one or two other jades out, then kill Ghial. But I got the staff so no longer care :P. Also got Kenshi's Daggers with the same build.

There's also another build here for farming Jades but the OP hasn't indicated whether Ghials can be got with it.

Do u think u could get the ranger touch build for this?? or is it a bigger hassle then what its worth
