Restarting my Ranger. prophecies or Factions?
The one Casey Squid
Im cought in a deadlock.
factions=fast leveling
prophecies=Cool armor and the pets actually grow.
My problem is that prophecies takes forever.
what do you think?

It sounds to me like the easiest solution for you is to make a canthan character, spend 10 or so hours knocking off quests in the slums and then hop on the boat to Lion's arch from Kaineng centre. As an added bonus you'll have 2 more options for your secondary profession. One thing that could be a nuissance is walking around with a lvl 5 prophecies pet while you're a lvl 20.

Some Canthan pets grow. Cranes (basically Moa bird reskin I think) get larger as they level up.
Arkantos
Just start in factions and then go to LA when your lvl 20.

Or... maybe you could decide this way... factions = asian face, prophecies = english face :S
Phoenix Arrows
I personally like Asian faces myself (since I'm Asian XP XP).
It's a matter of:
Tyria: Easy slow leveling place
Cantha: Hard fast leveling place
Your choice

I personally hate Factions, and if I was starting a new character I would start in Prophecies and get a run to Drok's, nice armour, then power level with me and my pet, won't take long, and will be easier than frustratingly repetitive Factions

frist think to yourself
1. Do you like the ranger faces in factions?
2. Do you want to spend money on a run(unless your lucky your guildies will run you)
3. Prophecies is even slower because everyone is in Factions now, well most are.
4. Factions gets boring faster I think. A bit of quests are run here to here and back here.
IMO get to a run to droks and LA and all that good stuff power level and get to factions and play because farer in the game like aspenwood is kinda fun
Hope this helps

I recommend Cantha.

It won't take you long to redo your Ranger in Prophecies you know where eveything is and all the missions.I redid an Ele from Sactum Cay onward and it didn't take me long to beat Prohpecies and then go on to Fations and beat it as well. What I would say to myself is why do I want to delete or is thier something you are unhappy with your char?

I just deleted a character to restart a ranger about 2 days ago. I started in Tyria and I remembered how much it sucks ass. It takes forever to hit level 20, granted my Strider was level 20 by Droknars Forge though. I guess it all depends on what you want your character to look like in the long run. (I picked Tyria because the Canthan hair is dumb.)

The most important thing for me is seeing what the character looks like in the creation process.
The second most important thing for me since I mostly pve is how fun is it to level and hunt areas. For me Cantha is a lot more fun. I enjoy the lowbie areas of Cantha as much as the mainland areas. Top that off with the fact that I don't want to go through the Northern Shiverpeaks again. Hell, there's a lot of Tyria I don't want to have to repeat in the leveling process.
I'm kind of Arkantos' suggestion of leveling in Cantha and going to Tyria when I hit 20 and the Canthan mainland. Since I haven't gotten a Canthan born character to Tyria yet I don't know how many of the skill quests will be available, but I will do the ones I feel like and skip the irritating quests or missions.
Some things I like about early leveling in Cantha.
- quests give better xp
- it's a lot more dangerous than pre-sear or Ascalon: There are some high level monsters and groups that aren't just roll overs.
- it's a lot nicer looking than ascalon
- i like most of the armour choices more than Tyria especially for a ranger. No more druid's stick skirt <-- yech

Factions, but maybe that is because I have taken 4 characters through Prophecies.

I would have to say it depends on how quick you want your character built and with what skills.
If you take the Canthan route you are going to be buying a lot of skills, whereas going through prophecies you get the main skills that you need and only have to top off the rest of them.
You also get a better idea of how you skills interact in Tyria, whereas in Cantha you're just getting started and bam you are on the mainland getting creamed by suddenly aggressive nutters.

factions: i personally like the ranger armor better plus factions is like beastmaster heaven
Bane of Worlds
rangers have a bit easier time in Factions too
anyways do what Arkantos has suggested if you like to go back to Tyria
but the so called disadvantage of Factions is that you can't run yourself and skip most of the game like in prophecies and just get your max armor to beat everything without having foes smashing your skull but running to places is a problem that plagues the new ppl and you'll end up with ppl who don't know how to play their characters in Tyria unlike certain parts of Cantha
