While I was fighting in cantha, my sword suddenly turned into one which looked very similair to rastigan's sword in fow, so I thought maybe it's because of my 'Protector of Tyria' title. But then I noticed it on the henchies too so I was wondering what makes them look like that.

a ritualist probably used a ritualist skill on you like weapon of warding

All swords turn that way when the wielder is under the effects of a Weapon Spell like Weapon of Warding.

Actually, all weapons in general (I think; I've seen sword, hammer, axe, bow, but not wands or staves) change appearance when you are under the effects of a Weapon Spell. I should try it out but I'm too lazy : ).
