New Event: Dragon Festival!

Whats with all the whinging about not enough storage space? u have 6 character slots now + storage how much more junk do u want to b able to hold and never use? dont keep so much crap.

stop hording all your stuff incase u might use it. as a rule if u dont use something within a month or so give it to a noob.

Well, Half-Life 2 came out with the Lost Coast, but that was really just a showcase for their HDR lighting tech.

But these games are not of the typical format for these kind of events. Role-playing games, or MMO's have more of a 'reputation' (if you can call it that) for it.

And yes, this is not purely for marketing either.

Well, if this was a Tyria only event, then the people that only own Factions would miss out.

Deal with it. Prophecies had it's events.

And I do own both.

Tyria is pretty much complete as someone said. Marketing.. yes.. but not as much as I think some people are making it out to be. After all Factions is the newer one. At this point people who just have prophices either.. have been there for previous events plus SF and the new greens added... or if they just got prophices recently.. they're still working their way through and wont care much about events.

Factions is newer.. they want people to get it, they want the people who have it to be rewarded for buying it and to have some fun. Besides 99% of people complained about Factions being boring so here ya go.

And if you own both, there is no reason to complain. Such as myself. I will buy all the new chapters that come out because I like the game.

If I didn't have Factions right now and saw this event I'd probably want to go out and buy it so I could participate. Marketing... yes. But if I didn't buy it by now obviously there was not enough incentive in the first place... make sense? Hope so, I was kinda rambling.

Edit: Big finale > Greens, Jadite, Amber, Ecto, all dropping from the sky as the dragon flies over head THAT would be a finale~

No one every mentioned this but I wonder if they'll decorate the Monestary for the festival. I hope so. That would be cool.

And seriously though (sorry still rambling) but how many people were starting to get bored in Factions? For me this event came just in time to get my interest sparked again. (I LOVE Guild Wars but personally I felt like I needed this event)

Yeah we're nuts/stupid/silly for keeping materials around and collector items around and wanting to keep some past holiday stuff around for fun, maybe different armor and weapon configurations for builds... we're bad people

Best gift? A dragon BOX or something that allows STORAGE.
I think it's interesting we pay full fifty and get NO more storage (and of course just 2 character slots, not 4). I'm almost surprised they didn't co-announce this with buying more character slots so we can PAY them for MULES. Yay. Anyone else think the Xunlai Agent quest was MEANT to get us an extra tab on our storage box? Even the Diablo2 EXPANSION gave more storage. Full price standalone? Sorry, no dice.

Yeah cool new event. But just continues to point out how silly the setup is. It's a mini-game for inventory except it's not fun nor a game. And it's not even easy to unload/sell it off because there still isn't a good system to do so. Still no help here = me very very uninterested in chp3 and beyond.

And heck I didn't even get to how chp2 is in general a let down and << chp1

Well normally you play with 3-7 others (if you didn't hench), it's quite different from full-fledged pay monthly MMORPGs which don't suffer from character slot numbers or storage space either. And if you buy each chapter every 6mo, guess what? Extra for CE, music, and eventually character slots.

The fact that most people don't seem to get that = good marketing.

My very first ranger, Canus Major, turns one right about this time as well. Mini-pet, new mask... life is good.

We should ALL get dragon Mini-pets for the finale.Not like the CE ones......new dragons..........they would be easier to get cuz u dont wait so they wouldnt be worth as much as bone dragons. ..................NOW THAT WOULD BE A FINALE!

Where's our Auction House? I am planning to make a return to this game when I can actually clean out my inventory and storage without having to sit in dist. 1 spamming my arse off.

You can clean them out anytime you like. However, if you demand to get top dollar for everything, then you have no one to blame but yourself if you have too much. Give things away, let things go cheap. Works wonders for freeing up storage space.

OMFG people QUIT COMPLAINING! You all compare this game to those confounded pay-to-play MMO's if ya like them so much LEAVE AND PLAY THEM! GEEZUS I have never seen so many people gripe about something that CAN BE FREE IF THEY WANTED IT TO BE! You don't HAVE to buy factions, you don't HAVE to participate in events, you don't HAVE to buy char slots once they come out, BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, I swear some of you people need to live a while in poverty and experience what it is like to HAVE NOTHING! I currently own both Prophecies and Factions, when it says "Guild Wars Factions players.", does it mean Factions created characters only, or if you own Factions you can still attend to the event with a Prophecies character?,

Ive got my Prophecie character at Shing Jea Monastery and the missions, towns on the map.

Would just like to know incase i have to create a new character to attend the event.

Any character that can get to Shing Jea Monastery will be able to get a mask.

Reading over this thread, starting to understand why the other events where more secretive. The more you say, the more can and will be bitched about...

Factions players, not Factions characters. If you have a Factions key on your account, you are a Factions player. I'm about 99.5% certain that any account with a Factions key can attend the event with any character.

You need to have Shing Jea Monastery for your Tyria characters. Of course, that's not even an issue.

Events are meant to be in the open, this is not a secretive club where only a few know and tell their friends. People ask questions, and this forum is here to help, even if the question was asked a million times already, we are happy to say it for the millionth-one time. Theres a freaking note in the login screen in green that tells all information. People can say their part in it, either to flame it up or rant on how they can't attend, such as you just vented on them.

It's been open, thats where they held the Tengu event How else did my lvl 20 Tyrian Ranger get her sleek bird brain >_>

The monastery was always accessable by tyrians, it was the missions on the island you couldnt do.

As that seems aimed my way, at least partly...

The point was, in previous events, such as Wintersday, Halloween, we did not know what we where going to get until it happened. I still remember all the excitement and anticipation of "Whats going on!?" "Will there be a Santa hat!?". Yet, with this event, they seem to deliberately have spoiled over half the surprise. Not to mention they basically gave people advance notice to yet again bitch about the fact they are getting a crappy hat to eat there precious storage. Why is this worse then them bitching later, as they would have anyway? Because instead of going into the event hopeful and excited, most of the fanbase is already going "Eh". The whole mood of the event is already being killed, and its Tuesday for Gods sake:-p

As much as i love the exploring and discovery factor of the previous events (Winter's day was the BEST), i think that giving out the neccesary information on more "short term" events is a better idea.

okay i like the dragon mini pet idea for the festival. they're cute and they don't bother you when you're out in a zone.. half the time i don't even notice a person's mini pet untill we're almost done with mission or something.

I'm all for the event, but I think it's upsetting that Anet is spending their time giving us treats and candy rather than giving us a /favor emote and more storage space, or trying to get out the purchasable character slots. (weren't they supposed to be available this month? or did I hear wrong? someone else told me that the official word was actually "soon".)

SURE, no one is OBJECTING to getting this event. It's just a nice treat that we can choose to participate in from Anet. If you are objecting, I really don't know why.

I know it can be annoying when you are content with the state of things but there are some of us who really don't like seeing events like this happen when the lack of features that are "coming soon" are keeping us from even wanting to play the game.

I hopped on Guild Wars about 10 days ago and saw my storage full, my warrior full of armor and weapons, my monk full of armor and weapons, my storage full of materials, keys, and medium-high end items i dont want sell for 250 gold each.....the list goes on.

Honestly I would love to have a dragon helmet for my Warrior and my Ranger but I don't have space for another helmet with no armor quality to it. I like collecting the things they give us on these events and I like having them later as a symbol of my presence in this game....but devoting yet another slot of my (now somewhat precious) inventory to it is not going to happen. I'll give you an axample...my Warrior:

1 set of Gladiator Armor w/ minor runes (4 slots) - knights boots included
1 set of Gladiator Armor w/ superior runes (4 slots) - knights boots included
1 set of Sentinel Armor w/ farming&running rune set (4 slots)
Stonefist Gauntlets (1 slot)
2 Extra sets of boots w/ minor/superior runes for other weapons (4 slots)
1 of each attribute enhancing helmet (5 slots)
Gladiator Helmet (1 slot)
Pumpkin King Helmet (1 slot)
Antlers (1 slot)
Candy Canes (1 slot)
Mini-pet (1 slot)
Weapons (Yes, I use them all depending on what I'm doing) - 2 Hammers, 2 Swords, 3 Axes, 1 Flatbow (8 slots)
Shields (Again, I use them all) - 2 Tactics, 1 Strength (3 slots)
Keys (1 slot) - Assuming I only bring what I need and visit storage before every mission
ID Kit (1 slot)
Advanced Salvage Kit (1 slot)

Total = 41 slots! <---- and that's without and crafting materials which I keep in storage

I would even love to have more weapons and maybe even more shield skins.....there are other armor skins I like also. Basically, those of us who have been playing from the start and want our characters to be versatile and adaptable end up really cramped. Many of us don't need another event, we need a way to be able to participate in those events without sacrificing what we have built our characters up to be and without further bogging us down, yaknow?

We aren't trying to be whiny little bitches but I don't really think newer players can understand until they hit that point where they have multiple suits or armor, weapon sets, and materials. When I take my warrior out, I don't pick up anything thats not gold or keys. It's kind of a bummer and makes PvE much less fun....

Well, you can open up space by...

1. Putting your weapon rune on your weapon helm, eliminating that need for multiple boots
2. Make a few pvp characters and get them all the extra storage items (pouch and bags), then use them for a "mule" character

I agree that we need more storage space, but this might help.

That is a terrible analogy. It goes more like this:

Mom is planning to pickup licorice, a pack of gum , a bag of cotton candy, and some peppermints.

The kid asks for some ice cream, mom says "I'll see what I can do"

When mom goes to the store they are out of ice cream, so she picks up what she went to the store to pick up.

The kid complains that Mom promised that she would bring home ice cream when there really wasn't any promise of ice cream. Besides I'm sure she'll get the ice cream when it is available.

Is anyone complaining aware of the little fact that the group of developers for events is a separate group from the ones updating/maintaining the games?

More like asking Mom for ice cream and complaining when Dad comes home from work without any.

So what you are asking for is unlimited storage because you want one of everything in the game? Or is it that you just want more storage so you can come back here in a few months and complain again about how little space you have.

It's your choice to keep 4 sets of armor with no difference other then looks. You chose to waste your storage space with this stuff.

I however have been playing since the release of Guild Wars and have no problem with storage space. I would rather have the event.
