Don't go to RA/AB/HA/PvE in GW then. RA/AB - Touch Rangers, so many to kill. HA - IWAY/Smite/Necrospikesyay. PvE - Afflicted, anyone? <.<

Only place it shakes up a little is in GvG, that's where the fun lies. PvP in other games is equally fun imo, but less to others, apparently. Meh, to each his own.

And to stay on topic here... There's no way GW sales affected the price of WoW, sorry, dream on.

One possibility: if the "no monthly fee" concept proves successful, and if a few more good games like GW jump on the bandwagon, it could drive the monthly fees of games like WOW down a bit. Here's hoping.

Hope on...

It's not like Anet is doing you any favor with this whole "no monthly fees" thing, a real non-instanced MMO will always have monthly fees because contrary to a popular belief, those games really cost a s***load of money to run.

Wow prices effected by Guild Wars? I would suggest it is more likely tied into their pending expansion release.

I actually bought WOW last October and still haven't loaded it -- even bought the game guide. I was just too much into GW and Morrowind to justify tieing up most of my time "getting my money's worth" out of it. Now I'm into Oblivion.
I'd still like to try WOW, and also Conan and LOTR when they are released. That could set me back $40-$45 a month if I alternated between those, GW, Oblivion and NWN2. I'm retired and have a lot of time on my hands, but not that much $$.

honestly, I tried WoW... and absolutely hated it. But I know 4 people who are so hopelessly addicted that they will be on the compy for 3 days at a time, staying awake on Vault and sugar. So, the WoW devs must be doing something right.

WoW is going on a downhill ladder. They're catering only to a specific set of players and so they're dumping their true player base.

Just took a tangent, and back to the Ops thing, WoW has been out for quite a while, longer than guildwars, and it is coming with an expansion pack EXTREMELY soon, so a price drop would be expected. Plus, WoW has a monthly fee, and I believe (correct me if i'm wrong) that it also has quite a few more players than GW. WoW doesn't need to make all its profits from selling the game itself, as GW does, so it can also afford to drop the price of the game itself. Once again, this is my opinion, nothing more, but i believe i'm right in some aspects.
World of Warcraft has been out for almost 2 years. The expansion will be launcned after the seconed year aniversiry. That is by no means soon. I have been playing WoW since beta. I am in one of the best guilds in the world, and I can honestly say WoW is a great game. However. Blizzard is full of idiots who don't listen to the community. They don't fix bugs untill its just about to late. They focus more on the people who play 10 hours a week rather then 10 hours a day and then toss in high lvl dungeons with the last boss in it being impossible for 4 months untill his bugs are fixed. They don't test content and honestly put out patches to fast for anyone to really get into the testing of it.

Wow is a totally different game. It is meant for people who want to put massive amounts of time to accomplish any end-game content. You will be grinding the same dungeons for more then half a year just to aquire some of the tops items in the game. There is intense compition in the PVE side of things and PVP as taken a backseat.

You can grind to 60 in a month, but you, no matter how good you are will still suck. WoW is all about gear. The only way to get the best gear is to grind for years. When you obtain it, within a few months a new instance is out with even better gear. Skill plays a part, but gear and loot plays a much larger role.

at the end of the time

PVP in WoW takes no Skill
PVE in wow takes TONS of skill (and years of your life)
