As we all know, there are many specialty builds in the game -- MM, nuker, bonder, etc. Why not have some titles that measure how good someone is at a specific build? Here are some rough ideas off the top of my head:
- Interrupter: Gain a point for each skill (or perhaps each elite skill?) that you interrupt
- Minion Master: Gain a point each time you control 10 minions for X number of seconds.
- Healer: Gain points for keeping people alive (haven't worked out an approach for this yet...)
- Damage Dealer: Gain a point if you do more than X melee damage every Y seconds.
- Nuker: Gain a point whenever you do elemental damage to X or more enemies simultaneously.
- (variation on above -- specialize title tracks along elemental lines, i.e., fire nuker, etc.)
Now, I don't claim to have all the details worked out, so I'm sure there are flaws in some of these. Depending on how they were implemented, I'm sure you could find ways to farm some of these titles, too. One possible way to mitigate against this is to only make the kills/interrupts/whatever count in high level areas or against high-level enemies, or something like that. But I figure that people will *always* find a way to farm things, so I'm not going to focus on that too much.
Another downside I've considered is that this could lead to title snobbery -- i.e., people won't take a nuker unless they have level 3 title or better, etc. Like rank snobbery, I'm not sure how to avoid this. I suspect that people who do this can't be stopped from doing it -- it's just how they are. That alone doesn't seem like reason enough to rule this out, though.
Whaddya think? Wouldn't this be neat? Any ideas for title tracks?
(BTW, since I've already noted the farming problem and the title snobbery problem, I'd like to ask that we don't dwell on those.)
