Bags are somewhat... small...
amazingant
Ok, I've had GW for about a week now and logged around a good 24 hours of playing so far. So now i'm finding that a backpack, a belt thing, and two spare bags are becoming smaller and smaller somehow, because i keep finding so much stuff before i can make my way back to a city. Now, i seem to remember finding a collector that had a "Scroll of Holding" or some BS like that, which was supposed to be used on a bag so that you could hold 10 items in it instead of 5. I made a mental note to find the items i needed and then come back, but i seem to have forgotten where said collector is. Anyone know?
Remexx
Mostly ever merchant after Grendich Courthouse sells the Rune of Holding. Just go to Grendich Courthouse and get yourself two of them.
Loralai
If you are playing Factions, the Quartermasters, at monastery, cavalon, and House, as well as the ones in Kaineng Center take Monastery Credits, Luxon Totems, Equipment requisitions, and Imperial Commendations respectively, as trade in for Runes of Holding as well.

i'm not playing factions, but thanks for answering anyway. So Remexx: Thanks for telling me that. Apparently leaving pre while i was still lvl 4 was a bad plan, so i havn't gotten far. hence my second character is already up to lvl 8, and still in pre. so, even though i'm not doing well, i've made my way to grenich already which makes things much better. so thanks!

I think you only have to get to Piken Square to get a Rune of Holding. Or you could just try to ask for one in Ascalon and maybe somebody who has Factions can get you one for less than 500g.
tuperwho
I always just bought mine in Ascalon city. One of the merchants has them.

I'd like to know when the much talked about "storage solution" is going to be implemented! It was mentioned before Factions was released, and yet nothing else has been heard. I mean, just how difficult is it to allow people to place filled bags into the storage slots?
I need extra storage! How the hell are you susposed to store your armour, weapons and items for both campaigns' characters with a storage facility that was designed for the original four characters of Prophecies?

please forgive the following answer as i could not resist.........
*WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY*

Zakarr
Bags are big considering how small the storage is. Player can carry more stuff than a solid storage box.

fiery
Use the 2 rune of holding on each bag, use the storage, the inventory on your character, OR make a new chracter and mule on him. Mules as in another character just to put items on.
amazingant
apparently i struck up a good discussion about nothing. amazing how that seems to work. about the links, i'm fine with doing this myself, and when i do need help, i've got friends who've been playing for ages. so thanks, but no thanks.

It does beg the question though. Why didn't you ask your friends who've been playing for ages first before asking here?

And to answer your question, Azagoth, I did ask them, and not knowing due to not having needed to buy such a thing for about 5 months, they told me that the best place to ask would be guildwarsguru.com's forums. Hence my coming here with the question.
Finally, what do you mean problem? I was simply stating a fact. The fact being that somehow the most pointless subjects seem to be the ones that start endless discussions. I'm not making a complaint, so pay attention before accusing someone of having no gratitude.
Good?

who gives an additional character slot for this untenable workaround of a well known design flaw that ANET refuses to fix?
a mule character is a no no!
a mule character is a no no!

I only took one of my 3 Prophecies characters into Factions, and she now carries around a load of crap, most of it I don't even know what it is, but it's all quest items, taking up half of my inventory.
Remus00
so y dont u just finish the fairly simple quests?
Sandblasted Skin
Most of the stuff you are finding is probably not worth keeping. You should just salvage it and carry the materials. You can then sell the material or keep it your choice. I recommend that you use a mule for material storage. If you keep buying armor this will save you a fortune in gold.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that you could talk to a Xunlai Agent that you can find in all towns in post-searing. Then, give some gold and you have a permanent shared storage for all characters in your account. Of course, each character needs to spend the one-time fee to access the storage. This is a handy way to exchange items between different characters in the same account.
As a general rule, save collector items if you want so you have the possibility to exchange them for weapons and armor, even if it's for a different character. Most people just save collector items that can be exchanged for perfect weapons/armor in the late game. Sell all precious items to a merchant. Normal salvage or sell to merchant all normal items. If there is a mod/rune on a blue/purple/gold item that you want to keep but not on that equipment, use a expert/superior salvage kit to get a chance to reclaim the mod/rune. Sometimes you can use a expert/superior salvage kit to get a rare material but you should really only do that for things you know might give a chance. Most people will only trade for perfect or near perfect items/mods so if you have no use for them, just sell the item to a merchant.

Amazingant it sounds like you are new to the game and as you are finding out storage is a tough problem for all of us. Right now you are in the beginning of the game what you need to learn now is the value of the stuff you pick up. Most of the white items you get in the beginning of the game you should probably salvage for crafting supplies to make your armors with, the rest you should trade away or sell to merchant unless it is something you would use yourself. You will find as you progress thru the game the items you find get better and better so the stuff you are keeping now turns out to be pretty crappy in comparison, so it is best to get rid of everything you don't use in the beginning of the game. As time goes by you will get a better grasp of how the game works good luck in your adventures. And to everyone else keep complaining about storage we need more.

I only hope Arena.Net does a better job of finding them than Battle.net
Storage space is limited for a reason, to enforce and back-up a stable trading community.

In reply to Trixor above i totally agree about not using mules and as you can see in my reply to Amazingant i advocate trading, selling or salvageing almost all items. The issue here is that the original storage was designed for 4 characters now some of us have added Factions thats 2 more characters and Anet has said that they are going to start selling character slots this summer and the addition of a third chapter is coming this winter. I also agree with your statement concerning server load but that is already a major problem now. You have probably seen the announcement that 2 million copies of Guild Wars have been sold. The problem of server overload is an Anet problem and Anet is expanding on that problem themselves all the time. With the popularity of Guild Wars growing all the time Anet is going to have grow with the game or the game will become unplayable. So the server load issue is something i'm not going to worry about. Besides it was Anet who said they would fix the storage issue so i trust that it will eventually happen. I have to applaude Anet with thier efforts in keeping up with the game issues so far.

I agree that too much storage is a bad thing, i mean that would severly mess up the economy. Now i dont know what this would do to the servers, but a solution would be the ability to take off bags with items in them. That would mean 1 bag(10 spaces) full of 10 bags(10 spaces) and they could have more bags, or some items. With just those bags, that an extra 100 spaces right there.
j_unit66
i could see it now puting a bag inside a bag inside a bag inside a bag, creating infinite storage. terrible idea u dont need 2000 slots of storage, keep wat u need sell the rest.

What's wrong with using a character as a mule? At least that way I get something for buying factions- a new ranger in prophesies and a factions mule. Those 2 new char. slots are yours to do with what you wish, and factions "maze-running" gets boring after 20 minutes.
