Im about to start 4 new characters. The problem is im stuck between two options for creating these chars. The options are:

1. Start the characters in Prophs, get ran to LA, hop to cantha and do the 3k quests for uber easy leveling, then hop back to Prophs to do Missions and skill quests.

2. Start the characters in Factions, get to level 20, then hop over to Tryia and get the remaining skill quests and missions.

Has anyone used any of these methods since factions came out and if so, how effective were they.

Thanks.

I did #2 with my warrior, and go to Tyria to cap elites.

Just start in Cantha. First, if you start in Tyria, most of the Shing Jae quests will not be available and these will level a Canthan up to about level 17 or so. Second, the two 15 attribute point quests are available on the island to native Canthans, and you have to get way further as a Tyrian to do them.

If your objective is to level up quickly, there is no contest - you really have to start in Cantha. You will still be able to get a lot of the skills in Tyria for free, and you will get a good number of skills for free by doing all the skill training quests and the insignia quests in Cantha.

So if I want my chars to have a purpose eg, I want my Nec to be a MM and my ranger to be a barrage ranger, I should start in Factions then move to tryia?

Everything is just quicker in Factions. You can get barrage in the Boreas Seabed mission, which is the 7th mission, and that's counting the 2 on Shing Jae. Animate flesh golem is attainable after the 4th mission - Nahpui Quarter. The rest of the skills are either bought or you get from the profession trainers.

If your objective is to build up a new character quickly, Factions is where to start. You can always move over to LA as about level 17 - 20 with max armor from Kaineng, and go anywhere in Tyria to get Tyrian skills or whatever.

If you are looking for a long storyline and enjoyment of the growing up with your character, then start in Prophecies and be patient.

I enjoy starting characters in Cantha as well. It may just be the newness of the quests/missions.

I did option 1, just started a necro. Most of the skill quests are in pre-LA area (including pre-searing) and are not available to Canthan chars; since i didn`t want to pay cash for all those skills, i started in Prophecies, got a run to LA and crossed to Kaineng, got max armor there, collected a ton of 3000exp quests and proceeded doing them with henchies. Leveling is very easy this way, already lvl 14; going back to Tyria after a couple more levels to resume skill quests and missions.

How long did it take to get to lvl 14 using option 1, as this is about the level I would want to get to in factions, before I returned to Prophs.
