The Scribe: An Invitation

Hi, all,

As you're probably aware, three weeks ago we started a new Community project. The Scribe is a weekly news-scroll, told with in-game voice, that reports on various events within the game world, like alliance battles, a new build, players who act kindly towards one another, and so forth.

Well, the scribe, and The Scribe, want your ideas about topics you'd like to see covered, ideas we can pursue, cool new things that the world reveals to us as players. Remember, this is RP voice -- the roving scribe lives in the worlds of Cantha and Tyria -- so he really can't write about the newest update notes. On the other hand, he can talk about changes to the game world such as the increase in faction, and he really has a great time writing about the players who engage in acts of random kindness or upcoming events. *hint for next week*

So if you'd care do to so, please post your ideas, and we'll do our best to feature what you'd like to read about. Thanks for your thoughts, feedback, and suggestions!

Don't want to nab someone's idea without their consent, MB! If they want to make the suggestion here, that's fine. But I'd hate to just, you know, glomb onto someone else's idea without it being intended for the consideration of the scribe.

Now, if there's a scribe thread there, so much the better, and I will check. Otherwise, having the ideas here is very convenient and efficient for me. Does that make sense?

Just a suggestion, the scribe should write about the insults that Kurzicks and Luxons yell at each other.. I find it amusing.

maybe the scribe can cover events like dance parties in lions arch.. something about tyria- more vets back there I guess

maybe the good ol' scribe could help explain some of the plot holes in the Prophecies and Factions storylines--like, who was the Fortune Teller? or was that deliberately ubiqtious?

Maybe the Scribe could cover the GvG scene a bit, in his own special way. not like the match reports.

Cover events like BRA giveaways, when they do them.

Yeah - explaining how & why shiro turned evil would be nice, or how he got the power of the jade wind.

Also - I think it would be nice to give scenic tours of towns and explorable areas - Tell us what is with that town in Dry Top, why there are stone summit in Ice Dome, and why its called that. How did the grawl get to the shiverpeaks? etc... describe the notable things about the explorable area and culture if any.

i thought this was for "serious" game related issues..

Is The Scribe rated PG?

Games + Seriousness don't mixed aparently

Perhaps the scribe could tell of under-dog stories like anyone beating EvIL or a top guild. Could tell people never to give up.

Inform people about rare items or skins that are relatively unknown to the masses. Things like the shield below or the new greens being added to the game (not things like zodiac, celestial, etc. everyone sees on a regular basis though):




I'll think up other things later.

Ideas I wish to see implemented, or at least get some official responses:

- Profession Changer in Guild Hall
- Able to change 2nd profession via the "Hero Window" [H]
- Essence Armor
(Armor that is able to change its stats, skin, runes, colors while in towns)
- Additional uses for Balthazar's Faction
- Titles based on Balthazar's Faction
- Addition of Grenth's Faction
- Various Suggestions to improve Fort Aspenwood & Jade Quarry

It would be most appreciated if Gaile Grey or any official representative is able to comment on these ideas.

Creatively inform players of the progress of some wanted features like reconnnects and guild storage, snce you don't want to do it on forums.

The scribe needs to mention how many luxons are actually wearing kurzick armor.......

The scribe isn't a patch, it is in RP mode, so it can't really say "We improved Fort Aspenwood by _______." Also, if it did, I probably wouldn't read it. Just keep doing stories like the ones in it right now, but some more, the first 2 (is it?) where pretty short.

If its about insults its FUT (Fourteen year old Unclever trash)

Do an article about how something amazing will happen to everyone who gives me ten thousand gold.
