Some people in game have told me that drinking about 1,000 (guessing) will make something special happen does anyone know if that is true or just a rumor?

It`s for the Drunkards Title. Stay drunk so many minutes (1000) get a title, stay drunk 10,000 another title and so forth.
Loralai
1000 minutes (the equivalent of 1003 ales by previous calculations of others) spent playing "inebriated" will earn you the Drunkard title.

I might add that the special event beverages (such as eggnog) can be bought for far cheaper from other players and last longer. It's the easiest way to earn a drunkard title.

3 dwarfen ale's=1 minute drunk (if i remember right) because you don't get drunk with 1 ale but you can get drunk with only 1 spiked eggnog if you want to reach it with ales it is 3x1000=A LOT

The first 2 are to get you drunk, the ones that follow will count toward your minutes. So you can go with drinking 3 to start and adding 1 every minute or starting with 3 and adding 3 every 3 minutes. Spiked eggnogs are worth 3 minutes each.

The bad thing is you can't "cheat" with the Dwarven Ales though, and still keep the numbers down.
When you zone, it takes ALL your drunkeness away and gives you minutes for them, meaning EVERYTIME you zone you'd have to pop those first two again to get re-drunk.
