No. I wouldn't be surprised if you could build it yourself for 1400$ or less. Just go to newegg and price out the parts (too tired to do it meself). Also remember that AMD is going to effect serious price cuts later this summer when Intel releases Conroe.

Thanks for the response. I had a feeling that it is rather overpriced. I amended the prices to the original post, you were dead on.

You can save yourself over $100 by going for the A64 3800+ over the 4000+. The extra 512 kB of L2 doesn't help as much as you'd think. Don't forget a case unless you plan to evict your old box's innards.

Premade pc's are always overpriced...selfbuilding ftw

A 7900GT and 2gigs of RAM for GW? Kinda overpowered if you ask me. You could get a 7600GT and 1gig and play maxxed. With a rig like that you better pick up Battlefield 2 and Oblivian to really see it shine.

Well he did say Guild Wars/Gaming PC, so I'd presume he'd play other games apart from Guild Wars.
Also, yes. As you've already found out, that is quite over-priced. Just build it yourself, it's more fun building PC than buying 1 in my opinion!
