Why won't people go to the Jade Quarry?
TheGuildWarsPenguin
Everyone is in Fort Aspenwood and when I advertise Jade Quarry in House, Cavalon, and both sides of Fort, a few come. Why do Kurzicks stay in Fort Aspenwood when they have a disadvantage when they can go to Jade Quarry which is much more fairer?

In the big list of forums and most recent posts, I saw "Why won't people go..." and knew immediately what the rest of your topic was
That said, I don't know why. Especially now that rewards are improved in it, there are fewer and fewer excuses. Maybe becuase it is further along in the game, albeit marginally.

because luxons want to win and kurzicks just want to play

It's just hard to get the critical mass up. I think if we can persuade a couple of major PVE guilds (as opposed to my one-man vanity guild
) to adopt the place - one on each side - then it'd be easier to get games going as people would know they'd have a better shot at finding players.
spaceboobies
yeah, this is driving me nuts, only because I want to map it for my Canthan Cartographer title! grrr.

Quarry is way more fun, balanced, and interesting than aspenwood imo. :/
Phoenix Arrows
From what I heard, win at Jade Quarry = 300 Faction and lose at Aspenwood = 300 Faction. So yea.

wrong, that was a thing of the past.
jade quarry win: 650
fort aspenwood win: 650

it's the same pay out as aspenwood.
I think it's because of the past pay out has left a lasting effect, meaning people don't care since they're so use to aspenwood. What I have seen, every now and then maybe 3 or so groups worth of people in quarry on the luxon side, so I think there's some people who've seen the light
another thing is, alot of builds work alot better at quarry since the npcs group together rather well

Mister Muhkuh
i think luxons just want a safe and easy win(i played both sides a lot and u really need a very good team to beat luxons in aspenwood)
Unlucky Slayer
Both Jade Quarry and Aspenwood are complete wastes of time for me to get faction in... I play neither...
D Fault
Why does everyone think that defending Aspenwood is hard?
Mister Muhkuh
its a lot harder than attacking...
and since no luxons ever try to play jade quarry, kurzicks dont waste time to try to get a party there...

Yep, best answer. I think it is 90% this, and 10% that they don't want to learn a new battle when there are certain things in Aspenwood that can almost guarantee a win for one side or the other.
Once a shepard is able to find similar things in Jade Quarry, the sheep will follow I bet. Get out your cookie sheets and foodstuffs, and most important of all your cookie cutters and start baking for Jade Quarry. "If you cookie cutter it, they will come."

i haven't been able to even play jade quarry before... i waited 5 hours one time too! I mean what the heck >_<, but i agree because it is random luxons have a much easier time to do their job, too much coordination is needed on the kurzick side for random teams to do well.
Medion
I have visited Quarry a few times, but it's because no one plays there I leave after a few minutes again. I think that could be a reason for more people, they want to try it, but don't want to wait hours for it to start.
Evilsod
We had to organise an alliance outing of about 10 people just to get into this place so someone could explore it. Its just boring...

Actually, it is a GW culture now.
People can wait in fort aspendwood for 30 minutes without feeling annoyed, but the same people could not wait in jade quarry for 30 minutes without feeling annoyed.
The only solution I see possible is to have large guilds tell their members to afk in Jade Quarry whenever they need to get off guildwars. With this method, you can see large amount of players inside Jade Quarry and thus fixing the psychological problem to some extend.
Jade Quarry give the same faction yet faster to finish, technically... it is far better than fort aspendwood's farming.
However, Fort Aspendwood is one of the more creative battle ground I had seen.

I was in there last night. The only person in the place. It echoed.

still trying to play in Jade Quarry (not done yet)
never did a match since Factions was realeased...

I'd like to see ANet patch in incentives for unused PvP-style missions.
In other words, if Jade Quarry hasn't run for 15 minutes, an NPC should announce that their faction needs help there and Jade Quarry should give, say, 100 extra faction for the next half hour.
That should "prime the pump" and get people playing every so often.

I was in Aspenwood a few weeks ago, and someone was advertising a match in Jade Quarry. I got excited about this, since it's always so empty. So I went straight there, and found just enough Luxons to start a team. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any Kurzicks on the other side.
I waited for about 15 minutes, and everyone on the Luxon side was starting to lose hope. I started to head for the exit, when, lo and behold, the timer reached zero and a loading screen showed up! There were only enough Kurzicks to barely make a team, same with us, but we all stayed there and played Jade Quarry all day. probably the most fun faction farming I've ever done. Sneaking around the Kurzick mining camps to shoot down one of the Juggernauts from up high, while running around to avoid an ele down low trying to nuke me; escorting turtles back to out base only to be ambushed by half the Kurzick team; Capturing guard posts so that we had the only high ground on the map; Lone wolf missions into their base to capture mining camps in enemy territory; It's a great possibility for strategies, and it's fun even if you just random run around shooting things as well.

Hadn't played Jade Quarry since BWE. Sure was fun to play though, on either side.
Hope the Quarry makes a comeback soon!

I was getting really quite cross with not being able to get into the Jade Quarry - I tried standing on both sides, for 30 minutes each time - then I tried the German district and got in straight away! My advice is - go with the Germans, they appear to be more into this whole PvP scenario than most of the rest of us.

it does not matter from which district you start, all players from all districts get thrown together. it has its up and downsides. luckily i understand german, so if i end in a full german team i wont have any problems communicating with them, the only problem i ever notice are the french, they just wont talk english, and the whole team gets pissed because nobody understands the other..and uh..offtopic ><
so yeah, my point was; if you are on EU servers, it doesnt matter, youll get players form, german, italian, english, spanish and french districts in jade quarry/aspennwood/vizunah square and unwaking waters

Ah - appears I was just unlucky in the English district then - thanks for explaining.

BOttom line is.. 1% of the Guild Wars population plays in JADE QUARRY. Or is there a time frame where you can actually catch people there?
Matsumi
I'm usually there a lot now, but it's a little silly because the luxon side will only play aspenwood it seems like... go figure. So, unless I want to sit around waiting forever for a match, I go to aspenwood.

It's a downward spiral it seems. Almost nobody there. Nobody wants to stay. Even less people there... wash, rinse, repeat.

If they added titles for Apsenwood and Jade Quarry, quarry would see a lot more action.
Although you'd also probably end up with more leechers.
Maybe not such a good idea after all
