I know that ABS runes dont stack, however im wondering how the abs works. When you add an ABS rune to say ur helmet, does it absorb damage taken only by helmet or from any part of body? Is this the same with armor Abs?

Armor Abs and Abs Runes Question

last I checked on Guild Wiki, the Ascalon Armor from Droknar (or 15k) had dmg abs that doesn't stack, so wearing one part should absorb as much as full ascalon armor does. So I went and got me combined Glads/Dreadnought armor with Ascalon boots. (Obsidian, so it still looks the same
)
And the same goes with the rune: doesn't matter where you put it, it absorbs damage inflicted anywhere.
But then I heard a rumor that the new Canthan Knights/Ascalon armor only absorbs damage done on the piece of the body where you have the armor. Which, if true, would suck. I thought it was a good thing they now made evey type of armor available in multiple looks, so you could combine. Having abs boots that only abs damage done on your FEET would be illogical then, cuz then combining would not be efficient.

I think it IS illogical. The same goes for elem armor, doesn't it? 1 piece of fire dmg abs (pyromancer) absorbs fire dmg done anywhere. So it should be the same for Warrior's armor.
BTW I'd be really pissed if my expensive obs armor boots all of a sudden didn't absorb damage done anywhere.
Furthermore: does it actually matter in GW where you get hit??? A hit is a hit, and means damage. Don't think GW registers WHERE that dmg was done on you. Pointless too imo. Would make it too complicated to choose a good armor set. An armor piece states what it does: absorb armor or whatever. It doesn't say "damage done to this specific part of the body", so it shouldn't be that way either.
So before yelling they should fix this, think about the consequences. A lot of people would be very annoyed and confused.

Actually it does register where it hits you. Certain types of attacks hit you in certain places. The chest is the most likely place to get hit then the legs.

and like the previous person stated, the place of a hit does actually get registered, it is one of the reasons why elemental dmg for 99% gets registered on the chest (unless otherwise stated"meteor strikes the head, while bed of coals strikes feet"). Heck even a difference in height will have an influence on the place where you'll hit someone (if you stand higher then the person your hitting: dmg will be higher and you'll hit the headzone in most cases).
In any case, i'm sure they can have the option of a one time event where you can exchange your feetwear to any other armortype or the rest of your armourwear to knight/ascalon armor. Then problem is solved as well, it really is not that big of a deal if the change gets done with propper thought.
