Newbie questions

I was wondering if someone could help me since Google doesn't seem to want to give up the answers.

Can you quit GW at any time or do you have to be in town? Some times my connection starts to go unstable and I have to reconnect or it just does dead. So I was wondering if you can save in the field and then resume your quest right from where you were when you logged off. Do mercenaries also stick with you when you log back on if you can?

Also how large are updates and how frequent? I'm on dial up and I don't mind waiting for updates, but I've not found any real figures or even guesses. I'm assuming probably a couple of MB maybe once every couple of weeks, but I'd still like to check.

Nope, if you lose your connectino while you're out of town, bye bye quest/mission etc. No saving. When you log back in, you spawn back at the city.

Mercenaries = henchmen? Nope, you gotta take'm back in every time you leave town. No biggie though.




Updates? Well, They just updated GW with a pretty big chunk I think...( Can't check it myself at the moment ). The good thing is you can leave GW open on the login screen, and it'll auto-download everything you need, or you can just login, and download the maps while you're playing.

Does this include all disconnections? What if I tell GW that I'd like to log off now and resume play later, will it go "okay, you can start right here again" or is it town no matter what?

Whats the longest quest? It's normally difficult to find a time span any longer than two hours free time wise, so is there any quests I'll not be able to finish unless I run like grease lightning?

If you log off, lose connection, or whatever "go out of the instance", you have to start in the town again.


Most quests should take 15 minutes...


Longer quests should include Villainy of Galrath, Titan Source, Hell's Precipe Mission, Thunderhead Keep Mission maybe...those should take an hour?

In faction though, you have 2 elite missions ( You don't have to do them, they just drop good loot ) those take 4 hours! (!) to complete , but you get a team of 12 players to do that.

The downside of having the gw system, is that you cannot save anything, but the good side is that you don't have to run, you just go to the places you've gone to already. ( You do keep most quest progressions though ,except for some interactive parts )
