I made this wallpaper for a Wallpaper challenge on a Gfx site.
I just thought id show you guys.
I suppose the "dark" theme is suitable because of what the text says.
So it resembles the dark abyss of night.

The Wallpaper:

What you guys think?

The pentagram is such a cliche' that makes it lose points...

Rather than black/white you should've done a slate gray (bluey gray), black and white is too dull to make it interesting/vibrant.

Also, it and the figure in the middle have a different grey tone structure that makes them detach from the rest of the graphics. Basically, it looks like one image dropped on top of another, instead of one unified graphic. And there is nothing wrong with black and white – they provide outstanding contrast when done correctly.

Design your own stuff, push borders rather that just working by them. Make something people see as new...

This implies that b/w isn't interesting or vibrant. You also say that b/w is too dull.

This has nothing to do with your color statement which is what my "done correctly" comment was referring to. You're comments about the use of b/w are simply not true. The b/w shades used in this image are very vibrant - consisting of very strong black and white tones. There is nothing "dull" about it (other than the image in the middle which I already commented on).

Whether or not the image is designed with "originality" is a completely different subject.

That post was not a response to what I quoted from you, I was simply saying I agree that black and white works when done correctly, and this is not one of those occasion. But whatever. Each to their own.

In my opinion the image looks like a huge sig, except it's monotone. Since you see this kind of stuff so often, it becomes a boring and repetitive image to look at when you see it so often, boring = dull.

I agree with ZenRgy, the pentagram definately takes points off, however, if you had balanced it and placed another pentagram on the other side, it would have been better. The central figure stands out too much with it's silver-grey color scheme in compromise to the black/white background. If the colors were a little darker, or maybe a slate grey-blue, as ZenRgy suggested, it would prove more appealing.

i didn't even notice a pentagram when i first looked at it, my eyes are still drawn to the character dude with the sword, so i don't know i don't feel it sticks out so bad like you guys do.
