Question about factions characters in tyria.

If I have a factions character is it possible for them to do the tyria missions and going from lions arch how do you get them to start moving along the storyline?

Start with the first mission, Dalessia Seaboard, located right around the corner from LA. If you go backwards from LA you won't get any quests but you can travel there and do the missions, less rewards.

What does "less rewards" mean. No skill points? Or no skill points AND NO exp?

From guildwars.com update notes:

" Opened missions that were previously closed to characters created in another campaign. Characters may now play these missions, but they do not earn skill point rewards for successful mission completion. "
