I remembered the post by that monk today while doing the Jade Wind Orb quests with my ele. Nuking them with close range aoe spells (eg Inferno) didn't seem to do the trick

Ritualists can also kill them with their many "bombs". I still go back to the starter island every now and then to hear their death moos lol.
