I read that since he only has axe for melee, that any dagger attacks should do the job. Otherwise, it should be simple if you put a good combo together. He won't necessarily use it in the right order, but if you do, you should out damage him.
unholy guardian
just take like a chain like...
mark of instability, leaping mantis sting, jungle strike, twisting fangs, falling spider, death blossom, no self heal or no defense
Really he drops even with a simply combo, just try a quick spike as soon as you load and he is pretty much dead... takes like 2 seconds max sometimes, assassin is like the easiest to kill him with

I recently ascended my Sin and this is what I brought:
Desperate Strike, Fox Fangs, Repeating Strike, Twisting Fangs - no other skills.
15 into Daggers, 13 into Critical Strikes
The dopple does use an axe - and it actually can use the skills. Your saving grace is that you can have higher damage than it does. Additionally, if you can use life leech, you're set.
Here's the screenshots as proof:
With the skill set listed above, I killed the dopple in 15 seconds. It using skills wasn't really a problem and I didn't need an elite.
