Quansong Spiritspeak solo farm

The enemy: Quansong Spiritspeak

The goal: Quansong's Focus

I couldn't find one of these for my Ritualist (20/20 doesn't affect spirit/binding rituals, so the +1 20%, hp+30 is really nice, and much better skin than the collector's) for around the price in the Canthan Green Items thread on PC forum, so I just used whatever worked, and this gets the job done pretty well. The run is pretty easy, so I won't go too in-depth.

The build: Warrior/Monk
Executioner's Strike - Dismember - Disrupting Chop - Dolyak Signet - Flurry - Vigorous Spirit - Distracting Blow - Healing Hands

Two interrupts are necessary, because the key to killing Quansong himself is stopping his spirits (his main damage comes from Spirit Burn, and his heal from Spirit Light, so this renders him useless), and since you have to kill the Temple Guardians leading up to him, V. Spirit/HH means you can stand in the AoE and take on 3-4+ at a time no problem

The attributes:

Healing Prayers: 10
Strength: 8 + 1
Axe Mastery : 12 + 1 + 3

The location:

Run out from Zin Ku Corridor, back into Tahnnakai Temple Explorable, and run backwards until you get to the room with Karei:

then walk up the stairs in the northwest corner:

and go through the tube there. Just make sure to clear out the Temple Guardians around Quansong before going at him, otherwise they can make things a little nasty, as Quansong requires a good bit of attention. This focus still sells for 20-35k in Kaineng Center, as not that many people farm it, but maybe it'll start going down if more people farm it. Enjoy and good luck

The faster cast/recharge affects only spells, and Spirits aren't counted as spells, but as Binding Rituals, so unless I'm wrong, they are not affected.

Bosses have the ability to cast faster than players AFAIK

I tried with a 20/20 staff to get a fast cast off Shelter over 50 times, and it never triggered. Guided Weapon got a half cast after 3 tries. (Guided Weapon is a weapon spell) The fact that Anet painstakingly points out at the beggining of each skill if it is a spell or not leads me to believe that they are not effected.

From my experience, the 20/20 stat doesn't affect binding rituals. I dont think they are classed as spells so the effect doesn't apply. I play Rit Lord fairly often, and have never noticed any real effect from the stat, hence my reason to try farming for this focus.

With reference to the farm itself, I tried the OP's build out. No problems killing all the guardians and getting the boss on his own. Massive problems with using disrupting chop to interrupt him, mainly due to the fact that it comes at ordinary attack speed (even buffed by flurry) its damn hard to 'rupt him when he uses spirit light. I used distracting blow as well, but only one interrupt cant cut it.

In the end, I decided to come across to the dark side, and tried a touch ranger on this run. I have never touched in pvp before (and probably wont, I tend to woop them on my mesmer, counters to their strategy are becoming more common). Touch ranger here however works a treat and overall is much quicker to complete the run and avoid the need to interrupt his healing.

Now I'm gonna go see what solo farming applications a toucher has in other areas, probably limited but worth a look all the same.

Never really thought of a touch ranger, but I used the interrupts to stop him from using spirits, which renders Spirit Light completely useless with the 10% sac, and Spirit Burn doesn't do enough damage to worry about.
