Hot tip about event tickets....
Leighwyn
This idea came upon me while shopping some drops to the merchant, and having some tickets in my inventory:
Tickets cost 15 gold per to purchase. What some might not know (though most probably do) is that merchants also BUY tickets back, and not at the usual 50% of cost, but at the full 15 gold per. What does this mean to you? Well, assuming you have only one account and are quickly approaching the 1000plat limit, you can simply exchange your gold for tickets, which have the wonderful property of never fluctuating in price. Yes, it takes quite a few more tickets than it would ecto, but ecto was 13k per at a time and what did it go to? 5k maybe?
As I said, this isn't the most efficient scheme for gold storage (around 170k max per character, thats stacks of 250 in every slot), but it IS an option that is available and completely involatile.
With the removal of most of my materials from inventory/storage sometime soon with the expansion update, I'll have plenty of room to store my excess gold in ticket form

Have you thought about what happens after the event? What if the merchant doesn't take it back? You are up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

Stack of Tickets = 3750 gp = 1 Inventory Slot
Sure it's constant, but you can store much more money with just one ecto.

Its a good idea, if you were to make a mule character you could then store approximatly 369k on it, not bad, imo. However, even though the normal merchant will show the value of the tickets, he will NOT actually buy them from you. I am not sure if this is a glitch or intended, but when u try to sell him tickets, it feels glitchy. Your head was in the right place, good thinking.
New Update...Fixed a bug that prevented Festival Tickets from being sold to merchants.

As for the merchants maybe not taking them after the festival, I really doubt that happening. You can still sell all of the halloween and wintersday items to them, and these are no different. Especially given the fact that Anet fixed a bug involving selling, I would give it a 0% chance of happening.

And you have 1000 plat in your account. So, what are you going to do with it? What is the point in keeping it? Or building more stacks of gold? ????? Why? LOL
Go buy something for chrissakes! Or give it away!
I have had over 1000 plat within my guildwars life. More like around 2000 plat if I added it all up, but at this moment, oh, around 35 I think. At one time I thought, yah, it would be cool to have 1000 plat...take a screenie, then....um....yah, big deal......LOL
sorry, I just have to laugh at peeps that want more space to hoard online game gold.
Forgive me

What is there to buy with it but totally radical rare-skinned items? Or rare pets omg! Or bitchin expensive Fissure Armor to trick your character out? All of these things are equally as pointless as hoarding it all. One is for those who love making their online game character look super duper and wow other people, or perhaps those who want to just do it for themselves, and the other is for people who just like to see how much gold they can end up with.
You can laugh at people like me, but I just as quickly laugh at people who spend all their money on items and armors with the very same stats as mine, only with different graphics or colors.
The most valuable thing to do with gold is whatever you personally find gain in...people who love to hoard should hoard (I do it in life too, do you laugh at me for that?), and people who love toys should buy things.
And this post is about discovering a creative way to hold more gold and sharing it with people, not about interjecting point-of-view insults.

I am always impressed with the clever thinking of gamers. This is a really good idea, but before you convert your tickets to gold, I really l want to know if the tickets will be saleable after the event. I will ask the designers, but you know, some special items have a "0" for value, and I sure don't want you to find that this financial plan has a major hole in it.
I will be able to ask on Monday. Don't do anything rash until then.

Also, won't the ticket guy be gone after the event? How would you sell it back to him if hes gone?
Leighwyn
Merchants take them, not the ticket guy

I can't believe people are worried about having "too much" money...

Silent Kitty
Tickets will be useless after the festival, and I suspect they will be worthless too.
J3mo
Tickets are only 3k per 250 therefore taking much inventory
Witchblade
the only purpose to this is that u can fill yer inventory with stacks for the night and sell back when whenever u want
