Whats the best primary 4 a secondary ranger?

A secondary ranger sucks unless you're a warrior.

Some necros use a pet as a free corpse.

Some monks use melandru's resilience for energy regen.

Some warriors use apply poison.

Some elementalists and mesmers use rituals.

But IMO, Ranger is not a very strong secondary for any profession. They don't have very many handy non-attribute skills (antidote signet is the only non-bow one, only good for W/R) and wilderness survival is generally the only attrib worth looking at for a secondary. As rangers are so dependant on expertise, marksmanship is not a very cost-effective skill for /R.

Aren't you already doing this in your Help choosing profession (Heated Debate) thread? Couldn't this have gone in there?

Well, Im considering whether I want a secondary Ranger or not...nobody was really touching that part of my topic. I think ive decided on Ranger/Elementalist, what do u guyz think? Benefits? Disapproval? Lemme know

i disapprove just because of the ele's need for energy. I dont really know what goes well with ranger though. I see alot of R/Me's and R/N's.

My friend brings up a good point tho....he suggests that I change ranger to my secondary because of Energy storage...though im not sure whether energy storage is necessary cause i havent even started the game yet, I still take it into consideration...Is Energy storage necessary? Which is better? E/R or R/E or neither...OPINIONS WANTED

It really depends on what you want to do in the game. Go take a look at the skill listings and attributes, then think what would go good with a ranger secondary, that you would like to be? People have their opinions of what they want to use. For me, I use a Monk/Ranger. I only use the pet right now since I'm waiting for rituals or melandrus resilience. I'd say think about what you want to do/be, and then figuire out if you want a ranger secondary to go with that. Good luck on your decision
