+10% armor penetration always for melee weapons?

I don't know what people see in sundering, even at 20% at 20% chance its basically 1 out of 5 attacks do extra damage. Most of the time you wont notice it because most of the time you aren't watching what damage you are doing, more like watching your health and such, kinda hard to catch that 1 out of 5 chance of happening.

I will never use it unless its on a green that has it or something like that.

though 20% is a lot, how about a mod that is just +10% penetration always? I mean we eventually made 15% damage always why not this? for some people its more damage than +15% damage, for others its not, depends on the build and what you are facing I suppose. I know 20% always is asking too much so pass on that.

Obviously there could be some sort of penalty to it like with the +15%. I mean I hear horn bows have this already, why not make it for melee weapons as well? They would be a huge gold sink as people would pay up the bizzup for it!

And if you don't think they wont, remember how much people will pay for weapons with perfect sundering mods on them and such! now make it 10% always... WOW O_o

no, it will make the current mods irrelevant,
(100/10 vs 20/20) which is not what we're here to do

Hornbows have a slower attack rate, if you add this ability to a particulare sword/axe/hammer with a decreased attack speed, perhaps you'll get some signatures..

20% chance to cause 20% armor penetration
If we multiple 20% chance by 5, and divide 20% armor penetration by 5, we will get:

100% chance to cause 4% armor penetration

So how about 4% AP always instead?

I thought the point was to have something worth using, unlike current Sundering mods.

No, that's different. The penetration of hornbows is intrinsic. As you say, there is a trade-off here with speed. Addable mods do not have downsides (except for vampiric and zealous but theyre different again).

They have an opportunity cost, in that you can only use one mod. There is surely some fixed AP value which would be balanced with vampiric and zealous, though I don't know if it's 10% or what.

Didn't know that. My mistake.

Well as I said there would be a cost to it, like how 15% always mods have a downside to them. Just don't know what else could be used to penalize though.

Honestly I wont ever use sundering... 1/5 chance to do slightly more damage is just... meh

I want 2hander swords and axes that have built-in ap, maybe 5ap or something.

Just for variety...

20/20 is equivalent to 4% always.
10% always is therefore a bit above the curve.
