Well... I think not only should you have explorable areas, towns and ouposts... but places that you can see all the other players.. but also fight creatures.. I think that'd be really fun.

Well, that is how your typical MMO is. That is one of the things that makes Guild Wars a CORPG, and not your typical MMO. If I remember correctly, games with persistant worlds require you to seperate the servers, and then we would have a monthly fee.
