Auction question

Hey guys i just have a little question, couldnt decide where to post it so im triing here .

I am triing to become a decent trader.So far i have observed that for example two weapons with the same base value but one with perfect mods(+30 hp, sundering) and one unmoded(with the same stats as the moded one-15% above), will yeild a different price in an auction.The perfectly moded one will get you the base value+item upgrade cost+something extra(you dont get this if you sell a weapon with no mods/bad mods).
Is this correct and should i upgrade an item to perfection to get the most out of it in an auction?

*With mods i mean prefix and suffix, not the inherent mod of 15% x.

Also and other suggestions on how to set up an auction for grater succes would be most apreciated.

dont waste perf upgrade on something u r gonna sell unless it's REALLy good .. a 15>50 crystalline or another very rare skin with 7 ..

im not going to deny that a "perfect" item - modded with sunder 20/20 or furious 10/10 and +30 health doesnt look "flashier" than a non-modded one, but to me (and probably most "serious" buyers) mods dont matter at all.

a req8 15^50 ebon fellblade of warding +6 means the same to me as a 20/20 (same sword) +30. yeah the 2nd will sell a little better, but as witchblade said, dont mod what you know youll sell. id go so far as to say dont even mod the really good stuff - believe me a clean 15^50 req8 crystalline would go for the same as a modded one. the important factor is the BASE weapon- mods are transient (just look how 10/10 sunder went from 50k to zippo in a day).

i think (and im not trying to sound snobbish at all here) that the only people CONCERNED about mods for a weapon are those that can barely afford the weapon to begin with ... theyre already thinking ahead about theyll have to spend on the mods. im not uber rich (im not poor either) but ive got a pretty extensive collection of req8 15^50 swords, axes, hammers, and bows and most of them arent perfectly modded. why? ive salavaged perfect mods off crappy weapons before and im pretty sure ill find more as time goes on ... and THEN theyll get modded. but the important thing is now ive GOT that req8 15^50 summit hammer i wanted, right?

now consider this if you do choose to mod things to sell. you need to take into account any items worth before modding it. take a req8 15^50 base skin longbow for example. its worth? id say around 40-70k (im no guru on prices tho). do you really want do drop 50k to sunder/fort it? there goes your profit right there! ive bought and sold many an item and believe me the argument "but the mods alone are worth more than that!" doesnt fly. the buyer may want to use it as a poison or vamp bow. in that case, they probably wont pay what you consider base value + mod value just to overwrite a perfect mod.

now ill point out the "other" opinion. when trading, youll see a lot of people asking for "clean" weapons. i try to avoid these people in general. sure, some of them just want to mod it to something thats not the fad of the week and some may already have the mods they need. but from my experience, most of these people just think they can knock 50% or more off an items value because its not modded, and to me that doesnt fly either.

this brings us full circle- back to the point where i believe that "serious" buyers dont base their buying on how the weapon is modded.

one last point- dont always shoot for a "big score." if you can turn a quick 25k profit on an item, take it and dont waste your time shooting for 30-35k profit. this holds true for everything aside from the "leet" items you may scoop up for REAL cheap- obviously if you can get a great storm bow for 50k, youll know it can go for 100k+ ...but even then, hey profit is profit and time is money.
