Dragon festival ending when CE comes out!

Websites show that for gamestop and EB games, the CE copy that loyal customers have been waiting for so long will ship on July 5th. Why is Guildwars dangling this festival in front of so many loyal customers that will be unable to participate?
My son and I both play guildwars and I want my son to learn the value of patience and wait for things that are important to him. Instead Guildwars is making a mockery of those who have had to wait for the CE edition by providing this dragon festival that is ending the day the game becomes available.
I preordered the game back in February. In hindsight I don't blame the fact it has not been delivered yet on EBGames but on NCSoft so for them to tangle this event in front of us and force many to rethink whether to wait for the CE or the SE is rediculous.
What is the logic in ending the festival before any loyal customers who waited 2 and half months for the CE to be available can play it?

How the heck is the CE still delayed? I mean this game is popular but it's not crazy popular yet to have CE being so delayed. WTF. Just wanted to get that question in.

ummmmmmm......that is a gd agruement, maybe they thought u already have guild wars factions, play that then get CE, but i probably wrong (likes always ¬_¬) anyways they should have something very special in the CE then, the festival is not even that gd until the last day anyways, so u will still have the fun. But u might not be able to do the chance game as u need a hell load of money, and u have to do the 4 quest for the dragon mask sooooooooo, sry dude, u gonna have to take guild wars to court :P , dont put them out of business tho cause i still wanna play guild wars

They might as well extend the festival then. So that 2nd edition CE players can play in it, and so that everyone can max the titles they want to max.

Extending festival = everyone is happy.

It's not like the "festival items" are any good so there's no need to worry about there being too many of them or anything like that. Hence I don't see a downside to a festival extension.

The CE wasn't delayed. ANet/NCSoft simply under estimated how much demand there would be for it and as such, the initial run ran out. This is the second release of the CE.

If you want the helmet I am SURE those people who have aquired 2,000 orbs or so will GLADLY sell them to you, because there will be a supply merchant or whatever for the people who missed the day the guy was giving it out.

Secondly, they do special things like this while there are holidays to consider. Such as Halloween, Christmas/New Years, July 4th...

Sorry to hear this, but you also have to take in that Real Life issues are not planned into this event. Orders do get delayed, people do not always get what they want on time. They can dangle, but if its "just not fair"... well... thats life, and thats something your son has to learn as well.

They do let your character get a mask.

You'll just have to buy them off someone after they become unavailable....like me

Masks will still be available for a weak afterwards, and the Jade Wind Orbs can be bought/given away.

Gamestop's orginal eta was July 28th. Looks like they put on some pressure. Keep in mind GW is the biggest game in the World. As the localization thread made my Gaile indicates that each country is slightly different.

I can understand the delays that stuff happens. The game went into production after SF was finished. They also had the halloween and christmas events during production. Then they had to meet a deadline of 1 year with less than 6 months of production time.

This is a huge project with many aspects. I just really don't like how it was handled. You don't tell people that you are going to be delayed on shipping a week before release when people have been placing preorders for months. I pre-ordered the CE. After the news I quickly cancelled my order. I felt is was not worth my extra $20 to make me wait nearly 2 months AFTER the game's release to get my copy when I preordered nearly 2 months in advance.

I don't mind giving Anet my money. I hope this company thrives and continues to make great games. Hell they got Lord British on their team (not on the GW team). They show they really care about their games. I'd say save your money and wait to spend it on something worth wild. Like more slots.

I doubt A-net intended the CE to be delayed as much as it has, nor that they wanted it to be released the day after the event ended. Seems more like an unfortunate coincidence to me. If someone believes otherwise, I would like to hear their rationalization. I don't see any motivation for A-net to purposefully do this.

yah Anet should have no reason for this, this would only lose customers if intended and thus would be bad marketing, I am very sorry for the OPs loss but don't have a grudge against anet.

I agree it makes no sense with the timing of th festival. There doesn't seem to be a way to get this issue to the attention of Anet. Regardless of being probably a mistake, it is a real issue. Those who have waited including myself will miss out. I'm not big on items but my son is. He has collected the various christmas and halloween items and enjoys suiting up in them.

I feel bad about the timing. I went to ebgames and even though they still had my pre-order on file, they didn't have any record of any shipments required for the store. Apparently they switched there system sometime between when the pre-order was placed, March 17, and now. Seems like a ebgames mess up at this point.

Went to the store yesterday and a salesperson said he was going to call the main office and then all the area stores etc and try to hunt a copy down for me. Promised me a phone call at end of day yesterday with news either way, good or bad. No phone call.

Guess I have to head into the shop and see whats up. Anyhow, I appreciate everyones concern here and I have to say the guildwars community is great.

For all I know, perhaps I would have had a copy back in May if the ebgames system hadn't said there were no copies required for the store. Apparently I am the only one who is on record still with a pre-order and I find it hard to believe that I am the only one who did pre-order it. Perhaps others got theirs.

the original CE was delayed.

i got mine a week late but no biggie.

the orders were more than expected and they were filled on a first come first served basis with some outlets choosing to send to their retail stores figuring the mail order could wait while they had live off the shelf sales.

NCSoft ordered a separate second run of the CE to fill remaining orders and the others who wanted to get one.

this took time to do otherwise they would have been out long ago to avoid just this

Ah! I see. A person forced to wait for the CE edition, which supports Anet more then a SE, must PAY someone ingame to get a fun item that they could have had if the CE was not delayed just by doing the quests themselves....yeah THAT makes perfect sense
