Grenth's Balance
If target foe has more Health than you, you gain half the difference (up to your maximum Health), and that foe loses an equal amount.

there's no counter for life steal, so the damage is not counterable, at all. just the results.

Health sac. Sac your own health fast, and then he heals you. Most fun way to counter it...

The best way to counter it is a 55hp build, you'll most probably deal damagi to the foe using Grenth's Balance!

Spell Shield is now available (but stops you from casting when it ends, for x seconds).
E-denial build
Cast Blessed Aura + Quickness of Serpents + Spellbreaker (also should have a weapon/off-hand item that lengthens echantment duration).

Interupt build (must have good timing)

Skill denial - signet of humilty (mesmer - disables foe's elite skill for x seconds).

No, Obsidian Flesh is basically a Spell Breaker for Elementalists.

using GB against high health bosses is the fastest way to kill them...same for you

Wandering my own road.

You can't lose more than half your current health due to a single use of Grenth's Balance. That's a fairly effective 'counter', in my opinion, though in some occasions, comboed with other spells, it's still enough to kill you.
(Though, since one of the primary skill combos with this is Phantom Pain->Shatter Delusions, you do get some warning of what's to come usually.)

And of course, all catch-all spell counters (Obsidian Flesh/Spell Breaker/Shadow Form/Spell Shield) are effective deterrents to being targeted with it, though I wouldn't rely on them, as most professions can not really keep them up, or even have any such skills.

Your best bet is to watch for characters that can kill you with Grenth's Balance, and watch their health. With effective spiking, you can snipe a target that has reduced its health to take a huge chunk of yours, and seeing a character like a Me/N with very low health tends to be a strong indication you're going to be spiked in a moment.

The easiest counter is to laugh at the guy who brought it.

I would have thought a heap of degen would be enough to counter it , stacked the cooldown for grenths and taking massive degen from hexes means your likely to die before getting your GB off. E denial probably the quickest fix though.

Arcane Mimicry works wonders. Nothing like stealing Grenth's Balance and then using it on him. Kind of like salt in the wound.

I can't imagine how Grenth's Balance is causing you so much trouble. I mean, it's hardly dominating the metagame..

Mark of Subversion - for x seconds, the next time target foe casts a spell, it is interupted and you gain x health

Guilt - for x seconds, the next time target foe casts an offensive spell, the spell fails and target foe takes x damage.

Illusion of Weakness - loses health until enchantment is removed or you are at 25% max health or less

Aura of the Lich - Max health is cut down in half for x seconds

Malaise - target foe suffers from -2 energy degen while you suffer from -2 health degen

If timed properly, illusion of Pain - target suffers from -3 to -9 health degen for x seconds, once over, target gains 20 health for each second under this hex.

Blackout - disables your skills and your target's skills for x seconds

Arcane Conundrum - for x seconds spells take twice as long to cast (a little easier to disrupt)

Migraine - target suffers from health degen of -1 to -3 and takes 100% longer to cast (again, a little easier to disrupt)

Inflict Daze on Necro

The other ways, I've already mentioned in my previous post.
