well it'd be kind of like a weapon or armor slot you just put the mini pet in there and you wouldnt have to double click to take it out when you zone or enter a mission and it wouldnt take up precious invo space, and you could of course take it out of the mini pet slot....
just a idea....
Mini pet slot

I've been browsing back to page 10 of this section but couldnt find a big thread where this had been suggested before (and discussed). If there has been another thread sorry for bringing this one up and not the other one.
I completely agree with the poster above. I have bought 2 minipets for 2 characters, and very happy with them. Only problem I have with them is that I have to hit "i" everytime I zone and doubleclick my mini. I would love it if there would be an on/off button for my mini so I dont have to think about it everytime. I mean, what is the point of implementing mini's while most people dont even think about using them.
Edit: I dont have a problem with the inventory space btw, thats a price I am more than willing to pay to have a minipet crawling around

This would be handy; I sit around with Kunivaang in my inventory all the time, and never remember to bring her out. Plus, not having to spend an inventory slot on these critters would dramatically boost their fun/usefulness (of course, how useful is something that just runs around with you?)
