HI, probabely a weird question as the name is guild wars. But do have to get in a guild to get further in the game?? So far i only played PvE(only got 1 character) and i dont want to start any PvP before i know the hole game, i love the coop missions and mainly in this game for the (real) fights. Played Battlefield(series) before this and did the hole clan thing for a few years, but as i seem to have a strong opion It gets me in a lot of disagrements with others(could be me ). And i really dont want to go there anymore. But it seems im getting no further in the game(im in the matuu keep area) money wise or mission wise. And i made my own guid with a friend(who stopped playing ) But i dismanttled it, because its of no use.

Bottomline question do any of you have a inbetween sollution, i like to play coop with other players. But dont want all the tactics and social stuff of a clan. Thnx for any replies

Joining a guild is not mandatory at all. You have the same chances of making money, advance in the missions, get skills as any other player.
You usually want to join a guild to be able to play with friends and people you know you can trust, share tips and so on...
If you don't wanna get too involved with clan-like issues, just add some of the nice people you randomly meet in your friends list and PM them every once in a while asking if they can help or if you can join them.
Or take a look at this thread (started by a guildie ):

Joining a guild is mandatory only for serious pvp, otherwise you are just fine on your own.
That said, you'll enjoy the game 100 times more if you're part of a good guild.

Or people that are not so nice or just plain to arrogant to wanna help out. But ill muddle tru and maybe ill meet sum nice ones in the future. Thnx for the reply

Guilds are not at all mandatory, like Arya said. If you want to enjoy doing missions with an entire guild group, then you would need a guild, or for more serious PvP play. If you are looking for help, a guild is always good, but you can also utilize Guild Wars Guru's help feature. Maybe you just haven't find the right guild yet. If you are still looking in a while, I run a very friendly and helpful guild, but I'll give you a PM with more details.

Guilds are not all neccessarily PVP only, our guild has a strong PVE base, with a handful of players doing the PVP side.. its helpful for getting party's together for some of the more tough missions like Thunderhead Keep etc (which I helped out some alliance guys with this weekend).. it also makes for friendly chatter, as you at least have one thing in common, which is the guild

I agree, you don't have to be part of a guild to play the game; I formed a guild just so I could invite other like minded people: we just want to chat, ask questions and ask for the occasional help (and of course share the full guild hall!) We don't PVG or do guild battles.

Some would find this as a "why bother" - but it works for us. Loners banding together.

I'd rather choose to play with a guild than to solo. I think you get used to play with the same people and you're getting to a level of complicity that you don't even need to talk anymore and the strategies go on naturally.

But your question doesn't really have any answers. Only you possess the answer to your question. You may prefer large guilds and someone else will prefer smaller ones. You may prefer serious guilds and someone else will prefer guild for fun. You may prefer PvE and someone else will prefer PvP.

My suggestion is that you wait until you really know some of the players with who you're playing with. You will feel it. If they're looking for the same thing you're looking for as a Guild Wars player, then you will know that's your team.

Chaale
