Purple Items better than Gold

Yes...yes its true.

I recently came upon a Purple Hand Axe Max Damage. Req 9, +14%^50. Now when i saw this...i got very annoyed.

I have an existing GOLD Hand Axe req 13 +14%^50.

You can see where my annoyance lies.....The gold axe came with only 1 modifier prefix, being "heavy" while the purple only came with the damage modifier.

My recent purple drops have been crazy lately. I recently found a 14^50 spiked axe req 8 from a UW chest.

Now heres the thing, WHY?! x_X shouldnt golds be always better than purples?! I dunno...just kinda weird.

The problem lies in the fact that for some strange reason, people don't want to buy purple weapons (unless it's an ultra rare skin, ie crystalline etc). So even though the stats on it might be better, as soon as they see that it's purple in the trade window they're tell you where to stick your decent weapon.

So I agree, weird how it works sometimes.

ya its very weird indeed i had a req 9 14^50 fellblade that was purple
also just got a req 8 fire staff with HRC and HCT of fire magic 18% and 17% respectivley
o and a Koi septor req 9 domination that has HSR HSC both 9%

these are better then 99.9% of the golds iv ever had drop for me

Who cares? It's the stats that count, not the color ( anyone ignoring that should be shot ).

Use the weapon yourself, or give to guildies...

With the "quality of drops upgrade" that happened when factions came out a lot of current purples are better than golds used to be, oh well.

I found a 14^50 8 req Brute sword before the factions. Its always been around.

I'd keep the purple versions for customizing and sell the gold ones.

I thought the max for purples before factions was 12-13^50 (never got a good grape before these)

I already customized both anyway just need some more +5 mods...

im so glad golds are always perfect/near perfect now. i remember getting gold barbed swords with no damage modifier.

hmmm was thinking about this the other day when i found:

found it amusing because i have a gold req 13 gothic sword 13^50

the req is important for swords, as u need to put points else where, but the bonus dmg of the purple item is better.

I remember getting a NO INHERENT MOD Icy, +15% vs. charr ...spatha, before the patch.

However, now after the patch I also get the useless weapons. How does a Raven staff, with 8% halves cast time and 9% halves skill recharge time, sound? How about a spatha with no mods that is 15% stanced req. 11...? There's no reason to get these because collector's weapons are that much better.

P.S. it is not inherent mods that make the color. I am pretty sure it is the number of prefix/suffix mods and the quality they have.

I own a 14>50 req. 9 Purple Zodiac Sword, it roxxorz my soxxorz... I love it because they're cheaper and they do the same dmg output as perfect ones!

Im pretty sure you misunderstand. The OP's problem is that some purple items are now very commonly better than gold items, AFTER Factions.

You could be just getting very lucky in your drops. I don't believe I've ever seen a purple weapon be perfect, so it probably limits how close to perfect they can be.

There also is the fact that golds drop in areas that aren't at the end of the game, and aren't that great.

Who else remembers, "OMG PURPLES ARE TEH SUK NO1 SHOULD USE THEM"?

Now we get complaints that purples are too good. Golds, generally speaking, have higher chances for more mods, and can have two max mods. Purples, as far as I know, can never have max damage mods, and extremely rarely (if ever) have max of other kinds of mods. So basically it's a rant about "I got a crappy roll of the dice on this gold item." Yep, happens to everyone. Hey, at least it has mods. I once got a gold req 8 Fiery Dragon Sword, ID'ed it, and bam, nothing. Absolutely nothing but the price.

I believe the "Fiery" is the mod on that one.

People think your annoyance at improved quality of purples is stupid. So the crappier drops of old are somewhat less common now and you have a replacement for yours, what's to be annoyed about?
