It really depends on where you are and what you plan to do. For instance a solo build will not always be the same as a build you would use when you are in a group.

I'll give you the axe build I usually use when i'm in a group.

Executioners Strike
Penetrating Blow
Disrupting Chop
Shield Stance
Gladiators Defense {E}
Sprint
Healing Signet
Rebirth.

As I said above I usually tweak the build depending on where I am and what I need to do. For instance if I know there are alot of hexes in the area I might bring Remove Hex. If there are alot of conditions i'll bring purge conditions.

I prefer Cleave{e}+Dismember over Eviscerate{e}... once Eviscrate has set deep wound on its opponent it becomes alot less effective where using dismember for the deep wound has the same effect but then cleave is a very spammable attack.

I always run at 16 axe mastery...

The only 3 damage output skills you need are:
1) Cleave {e}
2) Dismember
3) Executioners Strike

Then if you prefer to have an interupt you can always add Disrupting Chop.

I also always carry an adrenaline booster skill... "For Great Justice"... Tigers stance, beserker stance, flurry... etc

1 For Great Justice
2 Cleave{e}
3 Dismember
4 Executioners

That should sum up your offense!

Your next 4 slots depend on your secondary... armor buffs, healing and stances. You stated your a W/Mo so I would personally make MEND AILMENT a must have in your skill bar. IMO I can't stand waiting for a monk to remove blind which makes me completely useless. It requires no points into protection prayers and it has a rather fast recharge. Thats 5 skills down.... Since we're talking protection prayers I would also recommend rebirth... not all tanks bring a res, but I never do group pve without one. 6 slots down! Healing prayers, tactics, or strength should become your choices for your last two slots where you should have some sort of defense and or healing... Bonnettis + Healing Sig works nice for energy regen and healing but I run mostly adrenaline heavy builds. I would suggest an armor buff of your choice and a good heal!

1 "For Great Justice"
2 Cleave {e}
3 Dismember
4 Executioners Strike
5 Mend Ailment
6 (Armor Buff) Watch Yourself/ Dolyak Signet.....etc
7 (Self Heal) Mending/ Healing Signet/ Healing Breeze/ Vigorous Spirit...etc
8 Rebirth

6&7 are your choice but are very important to your build!

My suggestions for slots 6 and 7 would be Vigorous Spirit and Watch Yourself.... If this is general pve which I believe it is then you should have 1-2 monks with you to help heal.

PS... I rarely ever take Healing Signet into a pve group for one reason.... DOUBLE DAMAGE is not something I want to be taking when I need a heal.... most people use it for after battles, but then I believe thats kind of a waste. It can be useful when your using heavy armor buffs which negate the double damage but this is for group not solo pve so if you need a nice heal, let your monk do it....Watch Yourself will decrease the damage you take which decreases the amount you need to be healed and Vigorous Spirit heals you 12-15 points per attack depending on your healing prayers attribute level! I'll use that over healing sig anyday... double damage hurts..

Eviscerate = +42 damage + Deep Wound.

Deep Wound on a 500hp target mean.. (20% of 500) -100hp (and u get 1/3 of the heal) +42 + Axe Damage... we are talking about 200 Damage with 1 Skill.

This is an old debate, but I generally prefer Eviscerate to Cleave unless I know I'm going out in a group in which the other warrior is insisting on also running deep wound. Healing signet is good stuff. If you are smart about its use its the best warrior self heal in the game. Generally your builds will have armour boosts and or stances you can cast it under to negate the penalty. Even if you just run watch yourself, and cast only when its up, thats going to reduce the penalty to 20%.

Otherwise I think our builds are about identical preacher, but as I said

I think prefer

Evicerate
Exec
Penetrating

to

Cleave
Dismember
Exec

Dismember seems like a weak slot since you aren't getting any damage output from it other than the deep wound, while evis gives you get the deep wound and +42 damage when maxed out on your weapon. Instead of dismember you get penetrating blow/chop which is highly spammable and +21 as well as 20% ap. Then we both share exec. So I'm getting nearly the spammability of cleave out of Penetrating, while having the large advantage of eviscerate over dismember which is 1 less adren than evis, but has no damage modification. To be fair I haven't run the numbers properly, but I'd be surprised to see the cleave setup come out over eviscerate, or if it did by much at all. Even if it did work out that cleave was slightly favored, the other benefit of eviscerate is that it gives you a much better spike than cleave does.

The point is bringing dismember along with cleave allows you to drop deep wound on your opponent and then spam cleave.... I have tested it and trust me, it does more damage with the cleave-dismember combo....

Eviscerate = +42 damage + Deep Wound.

Dismember = Deep Wound
Cleave = +31 damage

Dismember does the same effect as Eviscrete does with the exception of the +42 damage.... but combined with cleave which does +31 damage and is farm more spammable!

U can get off 2 cleaves for Eviscerate.... which means after using dismember for the initial deep wound....

2 Cleaves = 62 damage
1 Eviscerate = 42 damage

After using Eviscerate for 8 adrenaline you get the deep wound and 42 damage, but then after this your only getting 42 damage for every eviscerate attack seeing you can't stack deep wound....

So after using 7 adrenaline and using Dismember you get your deep wound, then every 8 adrenaline ( 2 cleaves) your doing 62 damage.... lets use a 30 adrenaline attack leaving out other attacks which usually include executioners for both combos

Dismember + Cleave
7 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 31 adrenaline cost
31 ADRENALINE = DEEP WOUND + 186 DAMAGE

Eviscerate
8 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 32 adrenaline cost
32 ADRENALINE = DEEP WOUND + 168 DAMAGE

The more you spam adrenal attacks, the slower the other attacks charge. Since you're spaming Cleave, Disember, and Exe charge slower. (This is the reason nobody ever talks about Whirling Axe.) Because of that, the difference in DoT between Cleave and Evicerate is rather insignifigant. I prefer Evicerate because it leaves more room on my skill bar. Besides, If I wanted to spam some 4a attack, I'd go with Quivering Blade on a sword warrior.

Take into account the whole chain, you are comparing 1 skill to 2. By getting your deep wound in and high damge in 1 skill you open your bar for another low cost high damage skill, penetrating blow. What about,

A Eviscerate+Exectuioners+Penetrating

vs

B Cleave+ Dismember+ Executioners

With A you get + 42 and deep + 42 + 21 and 20%ap

With B you get + 31+ deep wound + 42

Besides, If I wanted to spam some 4a attack, I'd go with Quivering Blade on a sword warrior. your not spamming dismember, u lead with it, it applies deep wound and then you don't use it again until you start attacking a different foe. So that leaves you with cleave and executioners... spamming cleave non-stop.... thats why its an elite... because its so spammable.. combined with an adrenaline booster it owns... I've tested both and to me the results are clear.

In most eviscrate builds i've seen people have exectutioners in them as well, so whats your point about adrenaline recharge... The only thing your right about is that dismember takes up an additonal slot, that is true... but its worth it IMO

pve Cleave
pvp Eviscrate

But keep in mind this thread was to give the OP different axe builds, I gave my thoughts and I shouldn't have to defend them because this isn't a debate thread. If you wanna argue which is better there is a thread just for that agrument!

Well i duno if this will work W/Mo if it does its a group build...Normaly its W/E so if u can ever change here it is(This is a factions build unless u can replace the elite efficiently)...

Triple Chop{E}
Executioner's Strike
Penetrating Blow
Dismember
Watch Yourself!
I Will Avenge you!
Heal Signet
Armor of Earth

Atts-->Axe Master-10 Earth Magic-9 Tatics-11 Strength-10

I used Runes...Here is wat i would do to tweak it for a more group frendly build w/ W/Mo(again might have to replace the elite)

Triple Chop{E}
Executioner's Strike
Penetrating Blow
Dismember
Watch Yourself!
Heal Signet
Healing Breeze
(your choice of rez spell)

Again i have no idea how the W/Mo version would work but i no the W/E works b/c the Armor of Earth and Watch yourself! add an additional 68 armor to whatever armor u have so if u had 90 it would put you at 158 armor...Have Fun Experimenting...

The Cleave combo hits slightly slower, for slightly more damage. How often do you stay trained on one target in PvE?

At any rate, Tripple Chop is proabably better than either Cleave or Evicerate in PvE.

PS: Always use 14+ Axe Mastery in PvE.

Builds I use:

1. Distrupting chop
2.Tripple chop {E}
3. Dismember
4.Axe twist
5. Shield stance
6.Live vicariously
7. Heal Signet
8. Rebirth/Mend ailment

Heal prayers 8, Strength 6(+1), Axe mastery 16(+1+3), Tactics 10(+1)
Purely a farming build with rebirth for farming bosses with guildies/hench.

1. Distrupting
2.Tripple Chop {E}
3.Dismember
4. Executioner Strike
5.Shield stance
6.Mend ailment
7.Heal signet
8.Rebirth
For most pve missions /quests - Str 11, axe 16, tact 9.

1.Distrupting Chop
2.Dismember-Penetrating Chop
3.Axe twist- Furious Axe
4.Gladiators Defense {E}
5.Sheild Stance
6.Dolyak Signet
7.Heal Signet
8.Rebirth
Tanking - Strength 14 (+3) , Axe 12(+1), Tactics 9 (+1)

Thats pretty much what I always run mostly the PvE build though I have been known to use "to the limit" in slot 6 or take "wild blow" in slot 6 or even play with "furious axe" / "Swift Chop".

These are by no way tried and true but they seem to work ok for me atm.

I have to agree

Triple Chop + Cyclone = 1 physco AOE warrior

Try Apply Poison + Triple Chop + Cyclone, that used to be fun to mess with!

I've been using this: w/x

Flurry
Healing Signet
Cyclone Axe
Penetrating Blow
Executioner's Strike
Dolyak Signet
Defy Pain {E}
Watch Yourself!

12+3+1 Axe
10+1 Strength
8+1 Tactics

Total AL is 80+20+16+20+20+32+5, which is 193 armor, in addition to 244+45 HP. Then you have the -2+ -2+ -3 from shield, runes, and armor... This is almost 0 damage from all sources with some decent damage axe skills. If you feel the need to put a monk skill on there, you may want to replace Dolyak Signet.. as I find the mobility with that on and a mesmer hex can be extremely annoying. I'd take Mend Ailment or Vigorous Spirit, possibly a res.

I wouldn't take Triple Chop, simply because the AoE isn't as large as Cyclone, and it's an elite. What else is cyclone there for, besides extra adrenaline/healing/energy? Meh, just my opinion. It's the same as choosing Hundred Blades over Cyclone, if you ask me.

With this build, Dolyak lasts for 17/20 seconds. You have 3 seconds with 161 armor. Use Healing Signet only when you have all your armor skills/stance active. Replacing Dolyak with Signet of Strength is another option.
